They offer different things. I enjoy m&b for the gameplay of mixed units and single player. Multiplayer is kind of hit and miss. There's no balance other than numbers and players ping has a direct impact on performance. Not to say bannerlord won't address those issues but as it stands For Honor shows pretty tight and fluid combat with little downtime. Honestly if it has a ranking system akin to Rocket League I can easily see myself sinking an embarrassing amount of time into it so long as the balance exists.

I feel the same way. It gets compared to M&B and Chiv a lot, but aside from having medieval knights they are pretty different games. Personally I'm not a fan of Chivs spin to win play, and M&B scratches a greater RPG itch, but FH feels like a quick match multiplayer hack and slash.
>>
that's what happens when there's literally no marketing. Is it even still in development
>>
>>340685727
Why would they promote a game so far from release? We stil don't have a release date
>>
>>340680896
It requires Uplay, so it never existed to me to begin with.
>>
>>340680896
I'm pretty excited for it. Was fun during the Alpha, vikings are getting revealed at E3. /v/ will hate it I'm sure, but what else is new, quick brutal melee multiplayer without beyblade style combat appeals to me.
>>
>>340682689

>>340683659
Yeah but Chivalry was garbage, honestly. Too full of gimmicky shit. Being good at fighting felt little like being good at melee combat. Then there were Archer babbys, who made it difficult to have enjoyable duels on multiplayer maps. Maybe this game can make some improvements on it, but who would be foolish enough to have hope anymore?

During the Alpha I unlocked some cool engravings and paint emblems for my armor. Could apply it to the helm and pauldrons. Also the armor color could be altered bronze or iron-ish looking and so forth, also each armor part was customizable individually. Give yourself bronze arm guards, grey pauldrons, skull paint on helm face, Medusa on pauldrons, change the pattern of your cloth.

Loved it.

Not during the Alpha. From the footage so far it seems clear that there will be different weapons, but it hasn't been stated if they are cosmetic or have different stats. They have however stated that each hero will be locked to one weapon, so the longsword guy will always use a longsword, probably just different looking longswords. If you want a flail then play the flail guy...and so on.

As for armor I don't know, paints, colors, engravings, and emblems were the only thing I remember. If there are say helms with entirely different looks or whatever I couldn't say.

>>340688226
The minions are just there to give you the feel of being a bad ass hero among lesser troops as part of a larger battle. Carving them up gives you a bit of points, but the real impact they have is to cluster up around one of the domination points. They fight over the point and always will revert to a stalemate. You go down and help lead your minions to victory. It just makes it harder to sneak capture that point which is nice because other versions of domination mode it's always a bit too easy to just walk into an empty point and stand there, not to mention boring.

There are bots for heroes. They aren't very good, but maybe the alpha had them set on easy mode. I don't think it will ever not be 4v4.

>>340688228
I found it deeper than that.I know calling it rock/paper/scissors is the /v/ meme but there are parries, sweep attacks, rush attacks, and hero specific special moves counters or otherwise. Point being there is stuff to master, it's not just random chance 1/3 the game.
>>
>>340688947
i think the nice thing about the game is that they're all pretty awesome in their own way
>>
>>340688498
During the alpha each hero had a 1-10 level rank and at each level unlocked more customization options, and that was it. No in game currency or anything like that.

No clue, but I'd wager they change that so that you have to grind for money to buy the stuff or pay for gold to buy it... It's sad but that's how games are these days.

>>
>>340691210
Throughout the game to you develop as a character? As in like Leagues where you level up and gain skills. Or do they make it so one person can't feed the enemy and throw your match?
Can you switch your character between deaths like a load out? Can you customize things that impact the game? Say... I want a load out of X character with X weapon and X ability where they're interchangeable/mix and match or is it warrior 1 comes with X weapon X stats, X ability?
>>
>>340686657
>I hope this shit flops but you know people will buy it.
Why? What the hell's your problem with wish fulfillment games?
>>
>>340691210
Do you recover health over time or is damage permanent ?
>>
>>340691402
Only played two of the heroes during the alpha, but yes. I was better with the Oni than the Warden, but never felt like one stomped the other. They did however both require different play styles. Warden was better to wait for an opening for you to parry then slaughter with un-cancelable heavy attacks. The Oni you sorta ducked in and out, mixed in light attacks to keep them off balance.

>>340691665
As you kill more or capture more you unlock more of your 4 feats/skills some are passive some you trigger and they have a cooldown, some have a limited number of uses. You also increase in value. So killing a player that has survived longer and killed more is worth way more points than killing someone who just spawned.

So I guess killing someone who keeps feeding like an idiot over and over would happen a bit, but they aren't worth as much points as taking down better players or capturing/holding points.

During the alpha you couldn't switch heroes midmatch, No clue if that will stay a thing for the finished game. Also you could have a team with people of different factions, and I also don't know if final game that will be true. Armor customization was purely cosmetic during the alpha and could only be done out of match.

I think it is more like the second of your examples. Each hero will have a set weapon, skills, and stats you just change how they look.

Like I said though that might or might not be an alpha thing, final game maybe weapons will have stats, feats will be swappable, and characters switchable mid-match.
>>
>>340692417
That sounds pretty badass and some of those things I'm sure Will be changed (oni and warden being on the same team)
I'm pretty hyped for it now.
I've seen the "breaking" point where players don't respawn. Is it common for both teams to start breaking at the same time?
>>
>>340692370
You heal while in a capture point that your team has captured if you hang around and the point isn't contested. Also the Warden's third level feat allows them to heal anywhere, it has an animation that leaves you open to attack so you can't do it mid fight really and it has a cooldown and three use limit.
>>
>>340680896
It's already on my shitlist for having female knights in it. Fucking horse
>>
>>340692781
That's a neat concept that it isn't automatic but not entirely impossible to accomplish
>>
>>340692774
Not often that both sides are breaking, but it's super exciting when it happens. Far more often a team enters breaking and then rallies, and that jumps back and forth several times. It can be tense if that is your team that it is happening to. You'll be down to one guy and he manages to rush into a point to make it contested and that drops the other team's points just enough to stop breaking and respawn your team. Also I think making a kill allows one ally to respawn...might be wrong about that though.

The same faction on each team thing didn't really bother me. For having only two options during the alpha it was the only thing that made sense. For the full game I'd like to see servers/gamemodes that allow it and others that don't.

I'd also like to see a gamemode that is a series of matches where the attackers try to progress through a series of maps. Start at castle gate and win next match is further into the castle, lose and you get pushed back into the woods or whatever. Have gamemodes switch (deathmatch, domination, whatever) then have it be best outta 5 or some such. Call it campaign mode, for sure have factions locked for that.

Hey, Alpha tester.
Since you mention you sort of level up and unlock your feats as you survive longer (I'm assuming and thus getting more points) is there an issue with kill stealing or do you get assist points?

Why should anyone care about this when Chivalry is a thing and Kingdom Come and Bannerlord are on the way?
>>
>>340701339
I think you got bonus points for winning 1v1 battles, but I have to be honest offside fights were a bit of a problem during the alpha.

I don't think it is that big an issue personally. I think skilled players quickly realize that the mode was weighted to the objectives so holding and capping points was more important than kills. That said you got a lot of people that would spawn and right away rush to the nearest group of baddies. They want the COD killstreak play of the game, and 99% of the time they get butchered. That or they would run into a 1v1 fight and rather than let people duke it out they would try and gank the oppoent in the back.

I have to say that this was only some people, but it was a problem and it led to a lot of people bitching about 2+v1 fights on the alpha forum. They wanted an honor system where you taunt at eachother and that starts a duel where other ppl couldn't hurt you, or they wanted people to have honor ranks where if they engage in an offside fight they lose face and are lower ranked on their profile or some shit.

Completely different mechanics. First person, non targeting, ranged clusterfuck, spin2win, if you really want to bring any game with swords into the discussion without even looking up any amount of information you can fuck right the hell off.

I thought that was a bunch of pointless nonsense. If you are good at the game you learn quick that if you see an ally in a fair fight to leave them, see an open point then take it, see a lone enemy holding a point attack, get stuck in an offside fight then check where your allies are and if you can hold out until aid arrives or you slow demise would delay people then go for it. Honestly I found it advantageous to fight multiple people to the death at times. If you do it on their point they don't get points for as long as you are alive there and it is a 4v4 game so if two people are attacking you that means your allies have the advantage in the rest of the map. Additionally if you are in locked combat with one person and another person attacks you then to block the extra person you don't need to know what angle their attack is coming from just which side of your body. Which means it's actually easier to parry an attack at times from a second player, following that once you get a parry a sweeping attack staggers people so you can parry, sweep, and run.

Anyways. I don't know post-Alpha what they are going to do, will offside fights be easier, will there be an honor system, will they not touch it.

Got off topic but yeah I think you get more points for a 1v1 kill and anyone who jumps in gets an assist.

Hmm is retreating not an option when faced 2v1? Seems to me if you can kite 2 folks away from an objective with only 1 player you're doing something right if the game is weighted on objectives.

Naw man, you're good. This is all sounding very interesting to me. By all means, trail off.
It sounds to me that even one match would be able to give many players a feeling like they were clutch even in a loss. Kill both opponents in a 2v1? Badass. Stop a break? Badass. Rescue a friend getting killed? Badass.

At the end of a match would scores be tallied? Were they split up? I think it might promote a team mentality if they leave out KDR.
>>
>>340702696
Like I said if you are good and slip in a parry followed by a sweep then you can get some room to run. Otherwise if you just try to run chances are you'll get cut down from behind. You can make a quick jog to somewhere more advantageous to you though. I won a fair number of uneven fights by moving to a narrow walkway or bridge. Not only can you shove/throw people off the edge for an instant kill but the kind of people that go 2 against 1 are generally shittier players, bloodthirsty little turds that just swing wildly and team damage is on. I think it doesn't do full damage but it does hit and can stagger. So with proper positioning you can make them hinder eachother.

Also some maps have spike walls or trap pits or trap spike crushers, I won a fight against 3 people by throwing two of them into a wall of spikes.

You won't get points for leading people away from an objective, so not much glory, but yeah if they fall for it you can really help your team. Especially if you are a low value target i.e. just spawned. Then even if they catch you it isn't worth much at least not as much as holding the point would have been. Also sometimes it's not about leading them away but staying in the point. A point with at least one of each team in it counts for neither. doesn't matter if it is just you and all 4 of them are in there the point doesn't do shit for them until they kill you.

>They wanted an honor system where you taunt at eachother and that starts a duel where other ppl couldn't hurt you
Cause that happen all the time in real life battlefield right?

Fucking duel fags. I bet they bitch when you heal in darksouls
>>
>>340703718
That mentality is in so many games though, like shit can't you just go to a duel server or something?
>>
>>340703083
I think it was point total and K/D at the end of the round, but maybe....5 months back the devs came to the official forum and directly asked what kind of stats ppl wanted recorded. You know favored weapon, number of kills, number of 1v1 kills, most played this second that all kinds of shit. So the end of round breakdowns might be more dramatic at launch.

They did a good job of making you feel like you make a difference ya, lots of ppl want the matches to be bigger but I think 4 is perfect. It gives it a more personal vibe, you get to know the people you are fighting and learn their moves, you feel like an important part of the battle, also the three maps I played were really good, very tight and detailed lots of side routes to objectives. With more people it would just be a cluster fuck or get maps with wide empty chunks.
>>
>>340704171
That's what actually draws me to it is the almost arcade vibe. Like M&B team deathmatches drag on forever, there's so many people that no one ever stands out and with dropping in and out every game blends together.
Was there any mention of a ranked system?
>>
>>340703957
Scrubs just want excuses to why they got murked. That's all.
>>
>>340703580
It's a rush, and you know the odds are against you so lose but not get stomped and you are thrilled, but triumph or hold out for an ally and you feel like your life was on the line.

There were three maps playable during the alpha, if I had to guess I'd say maybe three maps per faction and the ones I saw were for the legion. In the TGS teaser for the Oni hero there is a forest level that looks too developed to be just for the teaser, I'd bet that is part of a woods map.

>>340703718
>>340703957
I got into the habit of doing a little taunt recognition at the start of a battle or at the end if I win, only if it seemed like the opponent was cool and with 4v4 you start to know them and can tell. Also playing I tended to leave my buddies alone if they were in a fair fight, or just straight ask them over the mic if they wanted me to intervene.

I mean having a 1v1 duel is fun in the game so I don't blame people for wanting it, but they don't need t force it with some gold star honor role system. just let the players develop a sense of honor on their own and if not fuck em they suck anyways they won't care if they don't get a gold star.

>PVK2
How is that these days? Last I played it there were like 2 classes per side and there hadn't been an update in almost a year.
>>
>>340704414
I think it was mentioned but not by Ubi people just suggested by fans.

I forgot to mention the poison blade feat for the Oni was STUPID overpowered in the alpha, I'm sure they nerfed it.
>>
>>340704760
Sounds fun as fuck.
Sucks though because when the game comes out the community will probably be assholes that have no honor or just rush in with no thought

That fine and all. People can play however they like, but seem to me that one and one duel is not actually a game objective. So they shouldn't complain is they get ganked.

It the same shit like one moba like lol when some dead faget goes "you can only killed me when your whole team gank me huh".

By the way, you suck at it.

I couldn't agree more. I hope the matchmaking is decent though and if it has casual and ranked then I think in the ranked servers maybe you will get more co-operative skilled play. Also since Ubisoft learned their lesson with Division and Siege and has started banning on the first cheat offense hopefully For Honor will start with that right off the bat. That should weed out some shitters. beyond that I think it's a game where it is easy to make casual in game friends and with 4 to a team you could easily spend most of your time playing with people you know and like and running train on the rando garbage no honor rush players.
>>
>>340705241
Can't argue with that people can be awful in online gaming, just total shitters. I miss couch multiplayer because of it, but those days are gone. Still lots and I mean LOTS of people on the alpha forum were real butthurt about getting ganked. I didn't see the problem, as much as I hate the term it really is just a git gud, don't play like shit and it isn't an issue, don't start a fight you can't finish and youll be fine, don't run up to two-three baddies and wonder why your shit got kicked in, don't get tunnel vision in a fight and not see the guy coming in from the side.

Anyways, there is some hope. I had a number of games where when the other side is breaking and they are down to one man, rather than everyone dog pile gang rape them in a corner trying to get the kill (which was the norm), some matches the team would hold back
fight the survivor one at a time. It wasn't easy I mean to kill 4 opponents one after the other and they are respawning and you aren't, but I saw they take a few down, and that is good times...feels like honor.
