Stepmania. Why buy the latest rhythm game title, which gives you nothing but a new songlist, when you can have a theoretical infinite songlist?
>>
>>340673908
Actionvision shoved Like 10 guitar hero games in a year. And harmornix shoved 2k of dlcs on Rockband. Take a guess that what happend?

I really like Plastic guitar games but goddamn. At least miku is doing well.

ITG killed rhythm games by giving birth to stepmania and it's clones. Besides, the latest DDR's have charts that are way harder than ITG's anyway.

You have IIDX in the proper place, and that's all that matters.

Yeah I've put 400+ plays in Copula so far.

You could also count Infinitas as well if you want to ignore the arcade games (as well as ignore how relatively bad Infinitas is, but still).

Do you go to Round One? Or do you actually have access to AC data and a way to run it? If so, is there a private tracker to replace the pigs?
>>
>>340675292
Wait what?

It's garbage because it's PC only? Do the arcade games count as part of this? I don't understand.

R1.

If Copula is out in the open, I have no idea where it is. I only play sims at home.

I've seen Pendual AC links posted in the open here once, though, so it might come from someone else, I don't know.

R1 sells eamuse cards for $10.

Or you could be a fag like me and buy a nip one off of Yahoo Japan auctions so that you can get a spiffy graphic on it.

Either way, if you wanted to complain about Konami's jewery with IIDX AC, you could have said so from the outset. I won't defend it but I also won't let it get in the way of me playing IIDX.
>>340676012
I take it you've made the trip a few times? I hope so. It's worth it.

BTW for what it's worth I'd have no problem posting AC data links if I had them.
>>
>>340676227
Oh, and also DJ Hero was a spectacular bomb, so that killed the whole ad hoc peripherals market too.

And the final nail in the coffin is apps like Synesthesia and Rocksmith that ACTUALLY TEACH YOU TO PLAY A FUCKING INSTRUMENT so you're not just wasting thousands of hours with no return.

Oversaturation. Cod and BF might be the same game every year but at least they get a new coat of paint and maps. Not much you can do with the same gh/rb formula.

I like rocksmith and synthesia but its a pretty niche game that need pricey "game controllers", actual guitars and keyboards.

Hi, Taiko is pretty much all I've been playing for the last 6 months.

Namco already tried to localize it once and it was a massive flop. Plus localization is a lose/lose situation: the game is way too Japanese to gain any significant traction in the west and "westernizing" it would mean getting rid of all the iconic songs and notecharts everyone know and love.

Best thing you can hope for is that the next console it makes a leap to will be region free. I'm just grateful softmods and homebrew let me play all the Wii and Wii U games on my Wii U with the controller I imported.

This piece of shit alienated Harmonix and between him and them and enormous DLC song pack jewery the market got flooded.

The rhythm genre pretty much relies on hardcore fans, but there's no support base for them here. Bemani shit and other rhythm stuff gets promoted via regularly-updated arcade versions. Arcades in North America are dead as dead can be.

Rhythm games are literally video games distilled into its purest form: a sequence of button inputs with a scoring mechanism attached to it. They come in all levels of difficulties and you could likely find both the least and the most challenging trials in all of video games within the genre space of rhythm games.

If you dislike rhythm games you dislike video games, period.

Its super retarded, people say it takes resources and try to make up excuses for Harmonix.

Truth is, you can shove a midi file into synthesia and the "note tracking" is automatic, I'm pretty sure Harmonix has a tool like that. Also with that midi adapter you can use any midi keyboard with Rock Band 3, its not like they have to make an expensive instrument.
