Hi, Taiko is pretty much all I've been playing for the last 6 months.
Namco already tried to localize it once and it was a massive flop. Plus localization is a lose/lose situation: the game is way too Japanese to gain any significant traction in the west and "westernizing" it would mean getting rid of all the iconic songs and notecharts everyone know and love.
Best thing you can hope for is that the next console it makes a leap to will be region free. I'm just grateful softmods and homebrew let me play all the Wii and Wii U games on my Wii U with the controller I imported.

The rhythm genre pretty much relies on hardcore fans, but there's no support base for them here. Bemani shit and other rhythm stuff gets promoted via regularly-updated arcade versions. Arcades in North America are dead as dead can be.

Rhythm games are literally video games distilled into its purest form: a sequence of button inputs with a scoring mechanism attached to it. They come in all levels of difficulties and you could likely find both the least and the most challenging trials in all of video games within the genre space of rhythm games.

Its super retarded, people say it takes resources and try to make up excuses for Harmonix.
Truth is, you can shove a midi file into synthesia and the "note tracking" is automatic, I'm pretty sure Harmonix has a tool like that. Also with that midi adapter you can use any midi keyboard with Rock Band 3, its not like they have to make an expensive instrument.
Death of Arcades, Konami was stingy with IIDX home console release in NA and got burned for it and Just Dance basically "killed" the genre in NA with it's extreme popularity.
