Well 8 on the 3DS is already censored in Japan, and this is due to wanting to retain the A rating from CERO since the original game has it too. Basically Jessica's costumes were edited, along with a few cutscenes, two at least. What was OK back then isn't OK now apparently. Still it's fucking stupid because they wanted the same rating as before, instead of having to bump up the rating to a B. Though I don't know how CERO works, like say any rerelease or series needs to retain the same age rating is a rule or something.

There's a big fucking list of changes, DQGH has a big list, but it's entirely in Japanese unfortunately. I've played the 3DS version, but not the PSX version. Off the top of my head:
- Removed the first dungeon basically, where you're hunting down four items.
- Added in a character at the Mysterious Shrine to give you hints when you need them.
- Lithograph Piece detector makes finding them easier. Apparently some are in easier to spot locations anyway.
- Job system change. Hybrid skill system is gone, though the skills themselves are not, they're just learned like normal skills.
- When changing jobs, you can't keep most skills.
- Jobs level up faster
- Appearance changes based on current job.
- General rebalancing. People tell me that Dharma Shrine in the original was really hard, but it wasn't in the 3DS version.
- Some old abilities removed, some new ones put in (I think)
- There are times where you'll be taken somewhere via cutscene instead of having to do it yourself.
I know there's a lot of others I'm forgetting, but I haven't played it since like, last August.

Years later, you find out that the town has an entirely different view on the priest, and flat out lie about him, except for one single kid who thinks its bullshit because his grandfather told him so and gets bullied for it. You find proof to verify the truth of what you saw all those years ago, but the only ones who believe you are some kids. You present it to the mayor anyways. The mayor smashes the proof, even asks "what proof?" like a smug cunt, and tells you to fuck off. The sole silver lining in this is that the kids you met promise to keep the truth to themselves and hope to pass it on to the next generation via word of mouth.
Regretfully, you find out the very same priest from before ends up dying to protect a different town. Goddamn. And that's only one thing.
