Those hours of grinding will usually lead him to being a better player regardless. I never understood why they removed rating requirements, it was always cool seeing people with shoulders or weapons and knowing they were elite PvPers.
Not once in my mind did I get upset and demand to have those items too, and I rarely, if ever, managed to face guys who completely outgeared me in the lower brackets.

I used to love WoW pvp, imbalances and all. it was fun, and while tbc arena had tons of flaws it was such a cool feature and was a far different style of pvp than what wpvp or stupid bgs offered.
Arena has had ups and downs, but in WoD the player-pool shrunk to abysmal levels - for lots of reasons: not fun, rampant cheating with no consequences, overturned specs/abilities lasting entire xpac, mass transfers/rerolls to alliance, etc.
On the surface of the legion changes, the pvp ones seem solid, especially finally doing away with pve vs pvp abilities and the pvp template. However, the trap they're entering now is similar to the one they encountered in WoD beta: almost zero dev pvp discussion or listening to feedback. In WoD the beta forums were filled with smart and constructive feedback (sandwiched between awful shit of course) that went completely ignored up to and even beyond launch. The same shit is happening now which further reinforces the perception that pvp is an afterthought.
The player pool of actually competitive pvp players is incredibly small right now in WoW and will continue to decline (until nothing) if legion doesn't "fix" pvp.
Currently in WoD rbgs are a joke as every team that wants to win has locks botting dots. Even 1200 rated arena 3s teams are kickbotting. It's the end of the xpac so while it doesn't "matter" the inability or indifference to police cheating on Blizz's end is alarming.
I'm not the best in the worlld but I'm not terrible - multiseason 2200+ shaman. Turbo is aids but if i resubbed right now would be my best option by far. it's too bad.

Attunements should be account bound, and should be along the lines of having to do lore related quests to the dungeon i feel.
Like for example if i went to something like utguarde keep, a quest hub nearby would provide an attunement and context to what im doing.

I was iffy on the whole everyone gets Ashbringer/Doomhammer thing but it actually kind of makes sense. One thing that slightly bothered me about MMOs is that you would go on epic quests or raid epic dungeons to get a super magical weapon then vendor it the minute you got a new one. So basically some wine dealer in stormwind would be walking around with a weapon you took from the corpse of the lich king himself that he paid 23 gold for. Like you'd never get attached to your weapon. Plus this new weapon thing kind of brings back talent trees and the appearance customization is neat.

Honestly, Legion is doing a lot of what I wanted the past several expansion to do. Always wanted Demon Hunters, always wanted a bigger emphasis on 5-man dungeon content and world content like Suramar and the world quests, always wanted more Legion shit since I enjoyed TBC the most.
I'd definitely be up for playing it if not for the ridiculous class changes they're pulling. Even MORE pruning of class toolkits and dumbing down of rotations, cooldowns, and playstyles to the point where the class I've mained since vanilla no longer looks any fun, and all the other classes I'd be willing to try look almost as bad.
If not for that I'd be willing to give it a shot but I don't care how much content they stuff into it if it plays like such boring shit.
