I think I have 1k hours on Destiny, so I feel I can weigh in pretty accurately. TTK was an improvement, but certainly not fantastic. The raid was cool, but got dull fast, the PvP got worse (this webm is from Y1. The snipers now have more aim assist than this sniper did) & the dreadnought was a shit social space to travel through. Plus the Hive are a shit tier race. Infusion was flawed, but a good idea (they fixed it recently thankfully). New strikes were as good as a strike is gonna be in guess. RoI is their last shot for me simply because they're dropping last genplus Fallen are best race.

I attribute Destiny's success to mostly marketing. "The next big IP from the guys who brought you Halo, also it's going to be amazing on the new gen consoles!" Kids and casual gamers eat that shit up.
The game built an incredible amount of hype years leading up to its release. If they had spent even a fraction of their marketing and multi million dollar voice acting budget on the game itself then we may have got something good instead of a hollow shell of a shooter.

This game had the most obnoxious amount of shilling I've ever seen and nothing can salvage it. They are dead hungry for money and it shows badly.
I still remember when TTK was about to drop and you had an army of shills everywhere, including here and at /vg/, let alone plebbit and neoshit, saying with the exact words how "With TTK, Destiny is now the game we always wanted it to be! They've fixed all of the problems with it!", which was the biggest fucking bullshit I've ever seen. With TTK they just bloated the game with a bunch of pointless quests, casualized exotics to hell and beyond and even had a day 3 bug with the cards that allowed people to get pretty much every available exotic when the raid hadn't even dropped in the same day. It had way less content than before because they made everything from year 1 completely useless but they made it seem like there was actually a lot of things to do.
