Borderlands 1 community was really good, but 2's popularity brought in a heap of people who's way of looking at things is incomprehensible to me.
If people are willing to trawl through the threads over there you will find some golden bait images. There's a few people (this was pre-beta) getting excited about the fact they would be spending additional money on the game through DLC.

I really never understood the fanbase. Even back when BL was shilled on here, I tried it on my roommate's console and this dialogue was all over the game. None of it was funny, it was all dated 4 years from back when that hyper ironic shit was still funny.
And then really the game itself sucked. MILLIONS OF GUNS. Which you used the one blue drop and trashed all the other trash guns you picked up. The RPG elements kinda borked the FPS shit. It looks like you can travel around, but your guns not able to kill certain shit in certain high level areas railroaded you into where to go. Which isn't bad, but then why even give me the option?
Game was forgettable. Played it 6 hours with my roommate one night and then we literally had forgotten about it the next day.

The Remastered Collection is pretty good. It wasn't as close to the original HW as it had some things that didn't work like before, but much of the code was LOST and emulated. Not my intention, scaling sucks, I just didn't understand the mechanic direction of BL. Getting cockblocked in a RPG is fine, but in a shooter it felt odd. And then BURYING the player in shitty stat guns while only a very few were worth a shit was also lackluster.
All in all the game was not smooth, witty, and the only thing unique about its gameplay was how it uniquely meshed different genres in a terrible manner.

have you played both? Battleborn does nothing spectacularly well while also being in one of the most saturated genres with little to no appeal. Overwatch is much easier to get into and much less intimidating so that new players join in and can function well because of how strong abilities can be. Noobs can get kills, this helps their morale and keeps them happy while in depth team composition ensures that skill and strategy is still needed for high rated matches. Overwatches combat feels much better and is the more enjoyable game.
Overwatch is also fast paced, pick up and go; no dedication needed while battleborn looks slow with long matches of people shit posting at eachother like in mobas. If the shooting didn't feel shitty and the game was better overall there would be no problem and it would have a healthy population for at least a year depending on what is done with it. Overwatch is solid while Battleborn is mediocre.
People looking for a fun shooter found that(during the free beta) Overwatch was simply more fun because the genre itself is also more fun than MOBAs. MOBAs aren't enjoyable unless you're with friends and even then it can just become frustration.

Kind of sad. Its a decent game marred by a fuck ton of bad decisions and priced way to high for what it was.

After you play for a little bit you can pretty much understand all the effects going off, but a lot of abilities are needlessly flashy. Characters like Melka and Kleese have basic abilities that are quite clean , but then you have characters like Alani who covers the entire lane in water effects that hide what the fuck she's actually doing.

I don't honestly find it that bad (yes I've seen images that get posted here). The issue comes from the FOV having 1/3 taken up by your gun. Playing a big character, I've often died because I can't fucking see someone stabbing my ankle

Honestly if the game held back like a month to tighten things up and let the Overwatch hype die down a bit it probably would have done a lot better. On release Marquis the sniper could still snipe your sentry from the safety of his base. Galilea was still hugely overpowered. Destroying the first sentry STILL caused a snowball effect that made it almost impossible to come back. All these issues are fixed now, but first-impressions are everything these days.
In the end it came to fill this weird niche that wasn't really in demand, competing with other games that are f2p. Its only hope of survival honestly is just going f2p and trying to jew people with cosmetics.
