He's a lot of fun to play as
He can either be absolutely terrible or somewhat okay.
He's too slow to matter where teammates can back you up so fast, and his phasing is easily countered by just following him around, and he has a fragile ult where you basically have to sneak into the enemy team with a small attempt of killing a few people.
I don't think he's really good against anything, just a good if the team is already crushing the opponents, and even then other classes are better.
He's pretty much useless imo.
Tracer is where it's at if you want to annoy the enemy team. Pop in, kill their support, back out. Literally her only use, also picking off stragglers.
Similar to Tracer and Genji, when used correctly very useful. Can take pressure off the choke points and flank. He is supposed to deal with all the turrets and snipers that watch the choke.
When used by 90% of people he is shit, dies at the choke and fuckign sucks.

This is probably my biggest issue with Widowmaker. 80% of the time I don't know their ult is active until I die to an enemy (who knew exactly where I was usually while I'm trying to be sneaky).

Ive always liked the grim reaper/cloaked dark figure look. His powers are basically magical shadow powers and feel really out of place though.

I don't know if it's just me, but I just don't like his playstyle. It's like they took the meatshot part out of Scout form TF2 and gave it the movement speed of a slug. I understand he has tools to get in and out, but when it comes to actually fighting with him, it just feels weird to me. Just something about slow + shotgun is strange.
I feel a lot more comfortable flanking, harassing and assassinating with Tracer and Genji because of their speed. Hell even McCree and he's a ton less mobile than the other offensive heroes.
He is a very good corridor and teamfight character but is completely outperformed by McCree who is more efficient upclose and actually competent on middle and long distances.
His ult is nice but a single Q press doesn't mean shit when someone else is doing better troughout whole remaining game.
His teleport is a nice tool to get on platforms (from which he can't do shit unless someone else is already on it) but sucks ass in every other situation because it forces him to stay on the line of sight AND gives a huge tell on where he is going to land after it.
Tl;dr
you can pick him in pubs and maybe even see him competing but you should almost always go for the cowboy if you are playing to win.

He is a close-ranged assassin that should use his teleport to maneuver around the map and flank his enemies. He can deal a tremendous amount of damage pointblank and is especially useful for sneaking behind supports or snipers.
Unfortunately, McCree is so overpowered right now that Reaper is outclassed utterly by the easy mode cowboy. He outclasses reaper in every way imaginable.

McCree is way less capable of going in and out of flanking positions safely. He needs to slowly walk there, being vulnerable, then use his flashbang in an offensive fashion, and risk walking out slowly. Reaper can just teleport to a good location, and wraith out if it gets too hairy.

Reaper's teleport is loud, slow and is typically only used when the enemy team isn't paying attention (Koth maps) or when he's already alone to begin with.
McCree's revolver is super-accurate, thus easy to land head shots with and can be used from a great distance away to pick off targets squishy and beefy.
Reaper's escape is superior to McCree's, if you can even call McCree's roll an escape, but he also reloads his revolver while doing it. McCree doesn't really need an escape because he has a fucking stun.
If they sped up Reaper in every way, he'd be viable. Faster teleport, faster reloading, faster wraith form, that would make Reaper better.

at worst, reapers ult used well should always kill 2-3 ppl at least. if you have at least 1 teammate distracting and you come up behind the enemy team, you can wipe their whole team.

Yes it is easier to notice reaper killing five people with a good ult but guess what? With McCree you would be unlikely to get into the situation where you need to change the game in the first place. McCree would have done better in corridors, he would snipe Pharas and Mercies, hell, he is absolutely capable of dwnying Reaper his ult and its not like he doesn't have an ult of his own. All that naturally leads to the situation qhere there are no five guys to kill with a Q on the first place.

I thought it was useless because playing heroes like S76 and Reaper who have amazing ults and then going to McCree ult felt like a huge downgrade for something that looks like it's designed to kill people quickly.

Overwatch does not tower over a single Halo game. Its individual skill ceilings don't come close to what you can achieve in Halo and team play is about the same when organized.
OW literally has no skill ceiling besides teamplay unless you're a inept retard who has never touched a shooter before because it has nothing shooter wise besides being a FP game with very very very basic shooter mechanics. Hell for many characters its just point/shooter with no movement mechanics only a few have anything beyond that.

It's not bad, it's just that Blizzard can't into fucking contrast anymore. All their designs are pretty good and would fit really well in a more realistic setting.
But when you overdo awesomness, edgyness and epicness, it all starts to look incredibly dull. That what it is to create contrast, but Blizzard forgot all about it: all swords are flaming swords, armor pauldrons are all XBOXHUEG, all characters wear a hundred belts, and in the end the artstyle becomes a parody of itself.

As a Reaper main, I think he is perfectly fine as he is except for one thing that NEEDS to be changed.
Make his fucking wraith form FASTER. I straight up do not use it anymore because all it does is prolong my respawn.
I have a better chance of surviving a 6v1 than Wraith Forming away from a Mercy with 1 health and in point blank range.
The fact that the form is basically 0.01% faster than base movement speed is a joke.
Everything else about Reaper is perfect.
