You get rewarded (handsomely on further game modes, I'll add) for every fight, and even if you don't want to fight, running away is fucking trivial. Unless by "fighting sucks" you mean "I don't like the combat", then okay then. Each to their own.

It actually has a very solid combat system with many different loadouts possible and GODLY ng+ modes, probably the best ng+ in all gaming history.
I really loved the combat system in PE1 and I hated that it was scrapped in favor of some RE clone shit in the sequel.
3rd Birthday was fucking embarrassing, like to the point were I'd call it degrading. Way to boil down a strong female protagonist to dumb as bricks fapbait, funnily enough I'd rather go balls deep with PE1 Aya.

Both DC1 and 2 are incredible imo. 1 was a fun spin on the RE formula, and 2 is like a fast paced arcadey action/survival game.

I like PE2 way more than any RE game because shooting stuff is viable an actually fun. A lot of the areas are neat too.
