I liked all of them.
With longer series at some point reading turns into homework, something I feel I have to do, rather than the late night page turning at the start.
With BC, I was interested and invested all the way through the series, even if the books are different from each other in pace, scope and feeling.
Maybe I read through it at a point in my life when I was just generally happier, maybe it resonates with me subconsciously in some way I can't determine, or maybe its reasonable good throughout the series, I'll let you decide.

Nah, Black Company books are very no nonsense kind of read. In comparisons, Malazan delves WAY too deeply into its own setting, history and whatnot while Black Company just gives you the immediate need to know shit and more as Company itself learns about it.

I saw the first, disliked the models clipping into each other, all the weird angles take for them to strongly imply sex without showing actual sex, and skipped the rest.

Malazan's problem isn't the worldbuilding, since the writer is an anthropologist he knows what he's doing, it's that it's just way too high magic to where it turns into DBZ. When things just reach that epic level it's not engaging, magic is abundant but has no wonder, nobody stays dead or persists somehow even when dead, magic superweapons, mammoth shit floating around, shapeshifters out the wazoo, mages everywhere, every peasant or beggar can use magic, it's like the more shit that gets thrown at you the more desensitized you become. I don't even mind high fantasy sometimes but there's a point where it's just enough already.
