Because you're paying for better and faster hardware. A computer isn't going to cost much more than a console if you stick in an APU with some decent memory and a fairly cheap motherboard. No. The only reason exclusives exist on consoles is to sell the console. Every single multiplatform game has better profit margins due to the larger audience and runs far better on a computer. Due to the larger audience, it's also preferable to any developer unless it's a contractual obligation because porting between consoles and PC is easy as shit nowadays with every modern console having an x86 processor, uses either OpenGL or D3D (or slimmed down versions, which Vulkan/DX12 have fixed on PC) and have completely normal GPUs.
Let's not even get started on the thousands of exclusives that PC has that consoles will never, ever be able to play, while on PC prior console exclusives can always be ported when the contractual obligation runs out or be emulated after some years. And let's not forget that on consoles you can't play old games for older consoles and you have to buy a ported version or a remaster.

Should a new console be released every year where the consumer and the developers foot the bill and force studios to attempt to dump even more millions into creating graphics just to appease hardware enthusiasts while every AA and lower developer just gets cucked out of the market by companies like EA and Bethesda?
The answer is no.
Consoles offers the industry a level of stability that helps developers and publishers, this model might not be the best but it fucking works, it helps sustain the industry and keep it from buckling under the pressure of a constant stream of new tech and the demands of idiodic hardware enthusiasts like PC users who care more about the hardware games are running on than the games themselves.
Since console make a good offering to the industry, guess what it egst in return. Fucking games and will never see the light of day on PC and that is a good thing for everybody.
