>225k people watching the Rise of Iron stream on twitch today.
But I thought Destiny was dead.
Not even close, it's extremely popular. /v/ just doesn't post about it.
>>340603470
Well it is console only game
i quit when they first released dlc for 20 bucks. no fuckin way. shame. was a great game but in not trying to spend all that
It is a disgusting piece of shit.
t. payed 60 bucks for legendary edition
What a pathetic excuse of a shooter. Enjoy your faggy skyboxes cunts
>>340605419
I will be enjoying my wolves and space magic yes.
>made 2 foreign and 3 american buddies before TDB
>one by one sizzle out as time goes on
>we all have an unspoken reuniting whenever a new dlc comes out for a month or so
It just doesn't get talked about a lot on /v/ partially because it's console exclusive but not to a single platform, meaning no console wore bullshit like with Bloodborne, and it tends to get memed all over when it does get posted because DUDE LE AAA FPS LMAO
It's really not a bad game, and while the DLC is expensive, it really has made the game a whole lot better.
>>340607179
>wore
meant to be war, nice one phone
>>340603741
>>340607179
>people spend $15 a month to play shit like WoW
>game has a $20 DLC after a few months
>Suddenly this is a huge, unprecedented deal
I bought the taken king today on xbone. Lets see how destiny is. what a coincidence
>>340607404
It's had 2 $20 DLCs, one $40, and the one in September will be $30, all on top of an originally 60 game.
But to be fair, the "Legendary Edition" that is/was $60 has all the currently available DLC so it's actually a pretty solid deal.
>>340607563
I curb your expectations and just tell you now:
It's a fine game. The shooting feels good, the graphics are decent, the raids are great if you can get people to do them, the gear can be interesting and a fun carrot on a stick to chase, and if you actually care to dig a little (inside and outside of the game) the lore is pretty cool.
But it's not a super masterpiece and it's not a game that's meant to be played for 10 hours a day either. It's designed to be a hobby, something you pick up for an hour maybe and then put down to do something else. Maybe you come back to it tomorrow or maybe on the weekend, it doesn't matter because it's always easy to pick up and it's always easy to put down.
You might call this a description of a casual game, and in a lot of ways it is, but that's not always a bad thing.
>>340608203
I just need something to kill time to avoid killing myself
>>340608335
Well, Destiny will do that pretty well.
Also, don't kill yourself. Killing yourself is for faggots.
>>340607840
You could get both DLC for 30 bucks if you didn't buy them separately.
Frankly, Year 1 people did get kinda screwed. 60 bucks + 30 bucks for TDB/HoW (which were frankly barely worth that price point) + 40 bucks for Taken King. Bungie's very fortune Taken King was as good as it was and was pretty solidly worth the money. Getting April Update for free when you owned TTK was a nice gesture too.
Rise of Iron looks legit for its price point, so Bungie seems to have reached a pretty fair point on their DLC and pricing structure after year 1 was very rocky. I'm sure microtransactions helped that.
>>340608412
The release of vanilla Destiny was obviously a troubling time for Bungie. Their ambition was too large and their vision was too blurry. This also bit them in the ass doubly when they decided to redo the story at the last minute.
But things have been getting a lot better, every release after vanilla has shown that they still have competence somewhere and it was just misplaced and misused for vanilla. There's still a ton of room for improvement though and I really hope that dropping last gen consoles will be the weight off their chest to actually make those improvements.
>>340608802
I really wanna believe they're ditching last gen now so they can do PC for Destiny 2. That'd be incredibly cool.
Well Destiny is a VERY addictive game.
And a very good one too.
Monte Carlo hype
>>340608203
Idk there's alot of content that requires couple hours atleast.
I'm actually blown away that this thread is so positive. /v/ threads for any bungie games are usually insanity, especially Destiny. It's like NMS threads.
>>340609337
>Monte Carlo hype
Why be hype for that when GJALLARHORN IS COMING BACK
>>340609556
Well I mean if you want some negativity for the game I've got that too:
>Inventory screen takes too long to load even on current gen
>Still no private pvp matches
>Still no non-matchmade lfg in game
>In-game story is still weak despite the strides made in TTK
>Microtransactions are currently tolerable but continue to edge a little closer to shit
>weasels weasels weasels weasels weasels weasels
I will never pretend Destiny is a perfect game, it's got a bunch of flaws. I just don't let the negativity consume my overall opinion.
>>340608904
they confirmed today that this dlc is going to be for current gen only. thank fucking god they're finally dropping the old consoles. they shouldn't have developed for them in the first place.
>>340609901
Their support for last gen makes more sense when you realize the game was originally supposed to come out in 2013.
>>340609337
>0/5/5 Nightstalker with Monte Carlo in PvP
The tears.
>>340602878
only plebs still care about that piece of garbage
>>340609837
>a bunch of flaws
oh yeah of course
>LFG
That's a philosophical decision though, they really didn't want to implement it. Same with trading but I agree with them that trading is MUCH more cancerous
>>340610185
>It was a philosophical decision to make it more difficult to play mandatory group content without using out-of-game means
Yeah, we know Bungie is retarded.
>>340609964
true. But a game in the scope they had been describing for so long was never going to work on such limited hardware.
>>340610419
I mean it technically has been working on last gen, but I think they've finally reached the point where they can do no more.
>>340609572
'Cause I rarely get to play Destiny with any of my friends. I still haven't played through Vault of Glass or King's Fall, so there is no reason for me to miss Gjallarhorm as it's poontless outside of raid bosses. I can have far more fun with a sword or Sleeper Simulant in my Heavy slot.
But I do love firing Deatiny's auto rifles.
>>340609837
>>Microtransactions are currently tolerable but continue to edge a little closer to shit
Sterling Treasures are RIGHT UP on the edge. If they go any further, I think you'll see open revolt from the playerbase.
>>340610185
>That's a philosophical decision though
I suppose, but now the official destiny app as an lfg feature on it, so seeing an in game version come along with the ditching of last gen would be unsurprising
>fps game heavily focused on jumping
>can't hit anything while jumping
why
>>340610419
>>340610502
The game is excellent on PS3, and you can even play the Crucible for free. You don't even notice any graphical differences between generations while playing. Good art direction does that to a game.
If Bungie is leaving legacy consoles behind, the least they can do is up the framerate.
>>340610560
They may be right up there, but at least we get 3 free a week, one for just getting on.
>>340610538
you've missed out on the best part of the game.
VoG is probably dead, but you can probably LFG a king's fall raid any time now. Doubt anyone is too anal over gear requirements right now
>>340610560
They already successfully locked Sparrow Racing League rewards behind a paywall, they'll get away with other stuff.
What makes it worse is that sparrow races were better Wipeout games than any Wipeout game ever made.
>>340610790
Yeah the fact that the game throws so many at you that you frankly have to be really desperate to buy one was a pretty good design choice.
I kinda quit playing this a while back after running through King's Fall a few times. I want to start playing again but don't have anyone to consistent play with and the guys I used to fuck around with are assholes.
>>340610538
>>340610872
/dg/ might be up for Vault, honestly. If you tell them you never played it, you'll probably get some takers.
>>340610872
>you've missed out on the best part of the game.
I dunno' about that. I went to play King's Fall with some criends once. Hard mode and I was just 282. My friends were strong enough. We were stuck on the door for an hour. That put me off of raiding for a while. If the rest of the raid is harder then the tedium isn't all that worth it.
And I read that Crota's End was even worse.
who else main /best class/ here?
>>340608203
I like you and your rational opinions.
>>340609837
>>Still no private pvp matches
DELETE THIS
How man raids are there?
I'll only play this when it comes to pc when should I expect to play it?
well after the massive disappointment that was The Division, people are willing to give this game another chance.
jesus christ
nothing can be worse than The Division.
the devs don't know anything.
>>340611167
You don't want to be too underleveled for a raid, it actually does make a difference with how much "tedium" is involved. Even if it's just you that was underleveled, you're 1/6th of the team.
>>340611252
Vanilla - 1
Dark Below -1
House of Wolves - 0
Taken King - 1
Rise of Iron - 1
So in 2 years worth of DLC, and content, 4 total
Also this 30 dollar expansion has O N E new strike
>>340611337
Division, with its exact mechanics, could have succeeded in a different setting. Military and modern just fucked them in terms of enemies, weapons, and gear.
>New DLC is out
>Game is popular on twitch
Wow, how could this ever happen OP?
>>340611167
>Hard mode
>282
Dude, you're basically a paper weight at that point, of course you're not gonna enjoy it.
>>340611315
Probably Destiny 2. I would be very, very surprised if that doesn't happen.
>>340611402
It was just an announcement stream for DLC later this year, anon.
>>340611315
They've been consistent that the reason there's no PC version is that they had to develop for four platforms and just didn't have the resources.
They're ditching PS3/360 with the next DLC. Destiny 2 is coming in the first half of 2017. So. Use your best judgment.
>>340611196
Titan or nothing man.
>>340611391
that was one of the reasons i knew The Division was going to suck.
the realistic setting really killed any hope for better boss mechanics, better looking armor and weapon designs ect....
all the bosses in The Division consist of waves of enemies and that's it.
>>340611571
This combined with the fact that they've continued to grow in size as a studio plus their supposed collaboration with High Moon Studios almost assures it.
i was expecting more
a year of basically nothing and we get less content than TTK, barely more than the dank below if we're being real
we'll see what else they have
>>340611391
If I am new do you think I can find people to do these raids?
>>340611931
once you reach appropriate light yes
people on /dsg/ will usually run people through, just let them know you're new.
other places it will be hard to find people for the older raids. i still believe vault of glass is the best one though.
>>340611747
You're misrembering how little fucking content TDB had.
It was basically Crota's End, which was rushed and kinda broken, but still mostly good and then a bunch of useless filler fluff garbage.
>>340611931
I bet going into Rise of Iron, there will be benefits for having done all the previous content. So people on destinyLFG will be doing raids and carrying people through.
I remember prior to Taken King they had these achievements or feats of strength, they will probably do that again
>>340612134
>>340611747
It has almost as much as TTK. It has way more than HoW and TDB just because Rise of Iron has a new zone.
The worst part of RoI is one new strike, yeah they are updating old ones but its shit we have done. TTK had 4 new strikes
The game looks good but I don't have console.
>>340612134
TDB was actually the first semblance of any NPCs in the game actually meaning something to the story and lore. Even though it was sparse on content, to me it was an indication that they knew they dropped the ball hard on story and tried their best to do something about it even with the small amount of time they had. It was also the first semblance of the quest system, i.e. objectives that tell some kind of story and lead to rewards.
>>340612360
Introducing Eris and quests was good, but on the actual gameplay side, man, TDB dropped the ball
Only getting to play Urn of Sacrifice once was so retarded and they never fixed that.
>No real Cabal anything yet
After the Cabal brother strike I want more man. It's just not right.
>>340612134
>Rise of Iron

>Stuff that Rise of Iron has that TDB did not
New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space
New Enemy Faction
New Crucible Mode
Barely larger. We'll see how big the new area is, but it's still lacking in content overall considering we got nothing in Y2. Hopefully they reveal more.
>>340612685
You remember that mission in TTK where you were intercepting a Cabal transmission to their emperor? Doesn't it sound similar to the vanilla "Shrine of Oryx" mission where you were stopping the Hive from communicating with Oryx?
Destiny 2 will be Cabal themed, you can bet your ass on it.
>>340610652
shotguns don't miss
this game had some of the coolest shotgun combat in multiplayer
>>340612685
It's kind of surprising that instead of finally getting that Cabal expansion or checking in on the Vex, we're going back to the fucking House of Devils of all things.
Like, not even the last remaining unfucked Fallen group, the House of Kings. The busted up, no Kell, no Servitor, no Archon broken-ass House of Devils.
I guess they're saving Cabal and House of Kings for Destiny 2.
>>340611196
>tfw triple striker trials runs
>>340612824
2+ years and a new game to finally get to 1 of the main 4 factionsat least from vanilla
It better fucking be man. Not having the organized militant faction not be a part of the world is just awful. Specially since the first mission on Mars shows them to be pretty fucking sick.
>>340612803
the dreadnaught was really lame so I'm not excited about another zone

>>340612803
You're forgetting about the mysterious "new pvp features". I have a sneaking suspicion that it'll finally be private games.
>>340613234
twilight garrison with doctrine son
I have never experienced such fun
>>340612803
There was so little to TDB's campaign and quests, I'm not expecting Taken King/Taken War levels of content out of Rise of Iron, but there'll PROBABLY be more than three missions and two short-ass quests.
>>340611931
There actually is a quest line for an exotic weapon that has completing the Vault of Glass as an objective. Crota may be more difficult but honestly you're not missing much there
Kings fall is still pretty common
>>340613228
I still find the Dreadnaught fun to run around even though I know every inch of it, turn on your imaginatron a little
>>340613214
If I'm correct in my guess then I bet the Cabal's presence in Destiny 2 will outshine any performance of the other races in any of the previous content. Not only because it would be an entire numbered sequel's worth of content, but also because it will (hopefully) continue the trend of Bungie improving on previous releases (on average anyway).
>tfw you get a good year out of destiny but as right before TTK drops your two friends that you play with move to Singapore, a 12hr time difference

Not many people still watch overwatch, but 7+ million copies were sold.

>>340613832
It was an announcement stream for content that doesn't come out until fall. 200,000 people watched a single stream just to learn some bits and pieces of content that won't be out for months.
>>340607563
Interested in doing the Refer-A-Friend quest?
>>340602878
Why can't they release a new game already? It's been like 3 years since destiny released and destiny is hot garbage. The stories are actually pretty damn good but the actual gameplay is shit. If they make a new game with the destiny problems ironed out and keep up the good dlc and stories then they're onto a winner.
>it's a 3 sunsinger episode of Osiris
>none of them have self-res
>Instead they just rain fucking holy fire on you and chain-super for 3 rounds
>>340614318
Destiny is a fucking huge financial success. Bungie robbed motherfuckers blind. As such, they will have more freedom and finance in the next game, as well as experience. They already said that it is planned for 2017, so I expect to see it announced at this year's VGXs or next year's E3. Maybe even this e3, who knows?
