but why is it free, /v/? is there really no plans to add a cash shop or any other Jewry? do they want this UT to turn e-sports? why would Epic release it free?
It's being developed with help and contributions from the community, there is a shop already but is mostly visuals and most custom maps if not all are all for free, it was made to promo the engine as well,

It's a tech demo to sell their engine. Duh. Epic has all the code from the previous UTs lying around that they can port over so the game itself didn't exactly cost them much to build.I also choose to think of it as an apology for UT3. Okay, Epic, you're forgiven. Just this once, though.
