Dawn was little bit of a disappointment due to the change in artstyle and the touchscreen segments, but by and large the DS Castlevanias are all good.
Also check out the Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP. Technically Dracula X was the prequel to SOTN (its boss fight was the first thing you did in SOTN) and while not focused on the 'metroidvania' gameplay, there's still a lot of variety and branching paths to keep things interesting.
