the riot gun is literally the same as the shotgun, you just aim faster and spend more on it
as for the magnums, the butterfly only deals twice as much damage as the killer7 once you've spent 140k pesetas on it. and then you have the rest of the upgrades plus the exclusive that brings it up to 450k
meanwhile the killer7 costs 100k less overall, and you can buy it and get the same firepower for 70k less than the butterfly
it's pretty clear, butterfly for money hoarding autists and killer7 for lazy shitheads

sometimes i use the TMP as my main handgun, and i use the punisher as a makeshift shotgun to break through shields and groups of enemies. i can sell all the shottie ammo i find and save tons of inventory space.

Never understood the Red9 love. I completely agree it looks cool, but I prefer the more modern aesthetics of the Blacktail. Plus, I never use pistols with the intent to kill with them solely. I use em' as vehicles to perform melee attacks. The Blacktail is ideal with that, having the huge clip, fast fire rate, and all that. Easily to kneecap a bunch of people and start roundhousing/slamming.

Ammo drops depend on what's in your inventory, so you'll get more TMP ammo if you're not carrying too many other guns.

All the guns are good or fun in their own way. The Red9 is objectively the best when capped if you have good aim but that's speaking from a pure damage perspective. At the end of the day its really all about what you like. Semi-auto rifle definitely makes the later segments easier when it comes to the iron maidens and regenerators but aside from those you can make due without.

I finished the game 6 times or so and never used/bought the minethrower, Blacktail or BAR. I'm a professional min/maxed, don't have time for subpar crap.
Has anyone who has talked shit about the Riot Gun ever actually used it? It's superior to the Shotgun in all important ways, all the Shotgun's exclusive upgrade does is give it an attribute the Riot Gun already had.

Personally, for me, I just a Shotgun as a get off me tool when there might be too many enemies. That's the only purpose of a shotgun in my eyes. So for me, wasting money on the Riot Gun doesn't seem wise, when I can just save my money up for the Striker later on or other weapons/upgrades.
