It was mentioned in a previous thread from a Carbine insider that Wildstar is basically on life support and maintained by a skeleton crew. They failed to secure a deal in China, so it was a massive blow to Carbine; the Steam release is the last chance at money. They want to ride it for as long as they can until the wheels fall off.

SJW game aside (Don't waste money buying story content) the main game went free when they put out the expansion. Still not worth playing though, leveling is a grindfest, pvp is unbalanced shit (you will lose to people with expansion specializations.), raids and dungeons are zergs with no real strategy.
Such a shame too. The first game was great.

Played the game at launch with a friend, got to level 50 in around a month and quit shortly after that. The combat was decently fun and housing was neat, but class balance was all over the place and dungeons had strict requirements for getting gold medal or w/e. I'm sure things have improved, but I've got no real desire to go back and my friend is most likely the same, he played Esper and I played Engineer, Esper was gimped as fuck when the game first released. The main thing I liked about Wildstar was the housing.
Because my brother and I share a 300gig a month limit and dl'ing a 30gig game is frowned upon
