After the parkour update it became much more playable. They have streams where they interact with the community so player concerns with the game are taken into consideration. Damage 3.0 along with Starchart 3.0 are in the works. Update 19 will have their 30th Warframe so there's plenty of characters to play with.
Overall if you have friends interested as well, start a clan together and you'll invest number of hours. And try to gleam some advise from the wiki or other players before getting really into it because some gameplay mechanics aren't really detailed in game. Like every weapon/warframe can be farmed but you'll need reactors/catalysts to make them good. And platinum is the real world converted currency but all you'll NEED to buy is extra slots for weapons and warframes.
Its one of the best loot games out there.
It is a loot game though so if you're not into infinite grinding and crafting then its not gonna be your cup of tea.
They need to rework Oberon and Nekros before I cum back.

How long have you played? You pretty much get to see most of what the game has to offer after like 2 hours. You'll be doing the exact same missions with slightly different aesthetics and enemies of slightly different bullet sponginess and one shot capabilities.
The game isn't fun, its not rewarding, its not fair, and it's not challenging. Unless you like collecting shit you'll only touch once before going back to your cookie cutter build, you'll end up dropping it pretty quickly.

So here's what warframe is: a core of fun gameplay layered with system after system, most of which suck and some of which make some ways of playing inefficient or outright impossible.

Got 300h into the game. Its free and its pretty, but the devs are making the game less fun and more shit with every update they can. It's a set cycle and not something that will change. Just like the gear threadmill in mmos.
It is fun to play when youre still getting up to the endgame, but as soon as you hit void which can be anywhere from 10 to 100 hours depending if you want to go straight into it or build some shit before it, the fun stops there.
At that point you are grinding for weapons and frame to ether cosmetics or trash to upgrade your main rank. And one or several parts of weapons or frames will always be locked to survival or defense 3 or 4 on rotation C with about 5% chance to drop. Which means that you have to stay in the survival or defense mission in the void for at least 20 minutes to get a 5% chance for that part of the gear to drop.
You will be stuck grinding the same shit for weeks to get that drop. Your only alternative is to buy the prime access with real money or buy it from other players for play which you get for real money or selling shit. And then in a few months once you finally get your shit, the devs will nerf it so you will have to move on to something else to grind again.
But the thing is even worse is that once you got the shit you spent weeks grinding for, there's absolutely nothing to do in the game. Nothing.
So play a bit if you want, then get out and never look back.
If you like hella grinding and delicious cyborg asses, it's not bad.

Its endless grind, regardless its one of the few grind games I can even arse to play because its actually fun, you just gotta take breaks from times to times.
Most of the time you're just going to be in the relays showing off your cosmetics while telling people how terrible they are at the game. And if they call you out on it, you ask them what events their clan has won.
I've sunken a bit over a thousand hours into this game. I don't really remember why.
Anyway. I would come back to this game if the gameplay at high levels felt like it feels at very low levels with pretty much unranked gear.
At the start, you have to aim well, you have to utilize the awesome parkour system, you have to use your abilities well, etc.
Then, everything starts dying in one hit. Either that, or you start dying in one hit. The scaling in this game is so shitty honestly. What felt like a nice balance of not being invincible but still capable of being a space samurai becomes a mess comprised of brainless grindfests and stupid artificial difficulty.

Its okay. Not enough guns that I like. The gunblade is cool but as far as I recall not very good. Same as the Akvastos and Akmagnuses. The Grinlok is such a fucking letdown, too. Game has fairly weak balance and there's really not much to do beyond shoot shit but it is at its core very good for an F2P game.

I played it for years and just recently finally managed to stop.
It's awful grind 2 grind shit.
All you do is grind. The same missions, the same enemies, the same weapons, hours upon hours just to get some weapons that only exist to make your user rank number go up.
The devs constantly addd new half baked shit that's only introduced to add more grind and then abandoned a week later. A completely broken PvP mode that just got slapped on as an afterthought. Everything that's fun and eases the grind gets nerfed into the ground.
And so you find yourself grinding for new weapons, grinding for new frames, grinding for new pets and sentinels and ships and gold trimmed upgrades to shit you've already grinded for, just to permanently shelve it sooner or later and grind for the newest crap in the same old missions and tilesets.
There is no end game, there is no reward, there is nothing but grind.
Don't take the path I took, turn around and leave as long as you still can.

Core movement and shooting is really fun. Fast and twitchy like old-school FPS games. The arsenal is GODLIKE; crazy varied and inventive.
But it gets really repetitive and eventually the only way you can get stronger is to hunt specific mods or crafting parts with stupidly low drop chances and specific drop locations, which means you just have to roll the RNG dice over and over again and if you don't get the thing you want you can end up playing for god knows how long and have NOTHING to show for it.

It's the most grindy, paywall-locked bullshit I've ever played.
You can clear levels for weeks and never even come close to getting anything more than slightly-modified versions of the starter guns and melee weapons.
The most interesting mechanical elements (new frames, new stances, archwing stuff, weapons with alt fire modes, sniper rifles with headshot-chaining bonuses) you probably won't see for your first 3-6 months of routine play.
The melee combat feels like total shit, the shooting is overcomplicated by elemental bullshit, the stealth elements just never work the way they should but they keep shoehorning them into new mission types anyway, and the procedural level design gets SO old SO fast.
And all you will ever do is replay missions over and over and over, hundreds of times. As fast as possible. Looking for RNGesus to smile on you with one of 4 blueprints for a new weapon, or one of 12 rare materials you need to craft it, or some other stupid bullshit. It's basically the most extreme farming simulator in existence.
One thing I will say for it is the movement feels amazing. Bullet jumping is just smart as hell, as is aim drifting, and it has the most intuitive wallrun system I've ever seen. Between that and the grindiness playing Warframe accidentally turns into a sort of interesting speedrun-platformer, even though it's a mediocre-at-best TPS.
But Digital Extremes are masters of the Skinner Box on par with the lunatics at Zynga, so I advise you don't pick it up unless you're really good at breaking out of the sort of brain-massaging that keeps you hooked on games you don't enjoy playing very much.

Do none of you have friends or a clan? Every mod in the game can be traded and so can every prime part and everything in the market gifted. The initial grind can be skipped completely by generous players giving you stuff you need. I know a few guys who gave away entire sets just so the newbies had something good to play with.
