Thoughts on this absolute classic?
A <VERY> good grasp on theoretical quantum physics.
I especially liked that you couldre-enter the café, touch yourself and get nulled out of existencenear the beginning.
>>340476756
Liked it.
Very underrated
Loved the game.
Felt one of the best time travel stories ever done.
Fuck anyone who hates the original Voice cast.
I've been wanting to play the game since I found out the artist behind Suikoden was involved.
What is the best version? PS2, PC or PSP?
>>340483296
PS2 or PC, though the latter is probably the best bet since someone probably has a rip online somewhere. Don't bother trying to up the graphics, it's never going to look any much better. Which is one reason why the PSP version sucks, they couldn't have bothered upping the visuals despite them very lacking for an early PS2 release. Not to mention Konami pulled another recasting like they did with the Silent Hill HD collection, even throwing in BEN 10 LOL again.
>>340483296
I own all three and I'm partial to the PSP version for the portability reason. It is a nice game to play in small doses. PS2 has the better voice acting overall, but PSP is just fine.
I own the game sealed on PC and am afraid to open it. Mite torrent it to check it out one day.
>>340483553
>>340483553
Holy shit. Well if there's no actual difference between PS2 and PC (and I know how fickle Konami's PC ports can be like Silent Hill 2) I may end up getting a better experience emulating the PS2 version? At least I can turn up the graphics there.
>mfw some guy on youtube literally said he hated the game including dogs as obstacles, saying they were "unrealistic"
What made him look even more retarded was that he would have preferred invisible barriers that don't even tell you why you can't progress. Some fucking people.
>>340483840
Just don't expect anything outstanding. Still, the character designs and certain artistic choices (the color tones for each era) do make it noteworthy even if the character models are very doll like.
One of my absolute favorite hidden gems on the PS2. I doubt Konami will ever make a game quite like it, they don't have the guts to experiment and do weird shit like this anymore.
>>340484238
>they don't have the guts to experiment and do weird shit like this anymore.
To be fair who fucking does besides indies.
>>340484345
Yeah, I thought that after I posted it. It's a depressing thought. And outside of a PSP port I'm pretty sure Konami has forgotten they even made this game.
>>340476756
I stumbled upon it with the PSP port. Messing around with it is interesting, but the game always seems to keep the player on a short leash when the really interesting stuff is going on.
>>340484721
Still, it's cool all the little side-things you can do. Like meeting the man and woman who are looking for each other.
Sucks that the church literally never serves a purpose in any wall.
Margarette is best girl
At least it got a spiritual successor in pic related. Shame though that it too pretty much went unnoticed.
>>340485441The real one or the replacement?
>>340476756
ADHD so couldn't focus past the first few chapters, looked coolPSP voice acting>PS2
>>340485776
>PSP voice acting>PS2
Yea, no.
>>340485441
>>340480096
Fuck this smug little faggot. There should have been an option to use him like an onahole.
Fun fact, that homonculus was voiced by the guy that voices Mario.
>"It's a-me, Homunculus!"
>>340487710
>>340484238
despite being a hidden gem, it got quite a bit of advertising
>>340476756
Homunculus is cute.
>>340488606
Where? Beyond a few magazines, I never saw squat about the game before I stumbled upon it in a Blockbuster. Which is also where I eventually bought the game when they were going under.
>>340488669
If he couldn't shoot a gun without breaking himself, then who the hell was gun?
>>340487710
>There should have been an option to use him like an onahole
He's too fragile for that! Homunculus is for tender loving only.
>>340489015
Still surprises me the range Charles has. Shame he hardly does anything but Mario.
>>340476756
Is it bad if my first experience of this game was from Retsupurae? Is Retsupurae any good nowadays? I unsubscribed quite some time ago.
>>340476756
Any way to get the PC version to work on Windows 10? Or would it just be easier for me to emulate the PSP version?
>>340487710
>>Fun fact, that homonculus was voiced by the guy that voices Mario.
Holy fuck. That's actually really impressive.
>>340489346
If you unsubbed, there was probably a good reason for it and it's likely not been fixed.
>>340489346
Depends. Usually not good to let a terrible "comedy" show affect your attempt to enjoy a game.
I am sure we can all agree that this little asshole was the worst character in the game.
>>340489969
>Annoying voice, almost the worst
>Failed to resurrect his mother, at least Ed and Al didn't bring theirs back as a ghost
>Literally spends his entire life to building a time machine to hunt down someone he only THINKS may have been responsible for his dad vanishing
>Either gets squished by ghost mommy like a bitch, or dragged to hell by fake-daddy, or accidentally himself from existence saving his sister from his older self
Hugo is indeed a faggot.
>>340483553
>>340483296
Did they fuck up the actual script this time too or is JUST an issue of vocal performances?
See >>340489474 . PSP seems like it might be the easiest way to run the game on a modern PCs.
Because I can deal with the voices being less creepy if I can actually just play the fucking game again.
>>340490263
I thought there was also an ending where:that dude that lost his kid beats the shit out of him, makes him see the light, and then he goes back to his sister
>>340490365
They altered some things for unknown reasons. Like the digipad became the "Z-pad", which didn't make much sense.
As for the acting, it's not exactly bad, but the new voices just don't really fit for many of the characters. Eike literally sounds like Ben 10, which doesn't mesh with Eike's appearance having that "I can only do teen voices", and they replaced based Martinet with some idiot who sounds like he has a sore throat.
>>340490497
There is that, but he doesn't die like a pussy bitch
>>340476756
Isn't there an ending in this game wherethe homunculus just trips and dies?
Wish it were easier to find better resolution of the artwork. Too bad most of the fan art was average DA crap (cheap "I JUST got into anime" garbage with cringe humor).
>>340490995You trip and drop the digipad and it explodes and a shrapnel pierces his frail form and he just deflates like a blood-filled balloon.
hoh yeah, I had nightmares about that for a good while.
The best thing about the game is that you could end up accidentally fucking your real daughter.
>>340491096
>Guess it was just fate.
Something about the way Eike says that is hilariously cheeky.
>>340491237Sad how some people out there still think Eike is only Wagner "in some timelines" despite that making no sense. Wagner never says anything to affect his de-aging into "Eike". It's like those people didn't pay attention at all.
>>340491237
I thought all endings with that possibility caused you to get killed or something.
>that scene where you had to avoid being stabbed to death by sticking a frying pan under your sweater
This game was so creative in avoiding dead ends. Now I really want to play it again.
>>340491516You mean Eike would cease to exist? That was never a problem for him. The only reason Homunculus switched babies was so there was a "link" to the distant past for Eike to reach. And it's only in one ending where he apparently hooks up with Dana(the real Margarette)
>>340489969
>Manages to Kill Himself in one ending
>>340493873Two, depending on how you look at it. You can either trick him into going into his old house where his mom's spirit brings it crumbling down on him. Or he touches himself to save his sister, which at least appears somewhat noble even if his older self probably couldn't have done much harm.
How does it emulate?
>>340494574
I don't know. But there is a PC version, which has to be easier to do than emulation.
>>340494508
I like that file name.
>>340494754
>>340494574
The PC version is fucked on everything past Windows XP and body's seemed to figure out to get it to work on 7-10. So the choices for a modern computer are either emulation or a virtual machine.
>>340494754
It's such a gamble with PC titles when you go past the Windows version they were made for.
I can't say I saw that twist about those girls coming, and I found it funny how you chose not to get close to that one chick because you might end up in anincestual relationshipand then the girl you do end up with there is actuallyyour daughter all along
>>340498562
Still, I would think it'd be easier to juryrig them into working compared to making a console game work on PC. I mean, most consoles, PS2 especially, are notorious for being really tricky to make many titles work because of how retardedly complicated Sony made the hardware or whatever. Hell, pic related I think only recently finally got a serviceable emulation going after years of horrendous glitches that made that rainbow static in the PC copy of Silent Hill 1 look like a mild distortion.
>>340499921
If the game could be properly remade, I'd love to see it do something that emulates the artstyle. Maybe something like Valkyria Chronicles and that "canvas" engine.
>Japanese devs could model hair on the PS2
>Western devs still have to make bald brobags on XBone and PS4
lol
>>340502214
Eh, even most Japanese games have shoddy hair textures.
Top 10 of all time, underrated gem, weird /v/ doesn't mention it more often.
I really enjoyed how each ending was essentially a different timeline playing out.
I do wonder how the EX ending works, though. As I can't recall any work of fiction having multiple timelines just randomly "merging" certain parts to create the kind of scenario where Eike is practically self-aware.
>>340487710
>Fun fact, that homonculus was voiced by the guy that voices Mario.
What the fuuuuuuuuuck? I can't hear it. That is some crazy work.
>>340505072
It gets some play on /vr/, which is a better place to hang out than /v/ anyway.
>>340506587
b-but ps2 is not /vr/ so why are you lying to me anon
also I make a thread about it on /v/ once a month, never more than 5 replies before it 404s
>>340506540
That's voice actors for you, they've got amazing range.
