The Flood's weakness is that much of it is a straightforward adaptation of the game, but it still manages to introduce some interesting original scenes and subplots. Cole Protocol was fun in my opinion. The sangheili zealotry may have been too overblown depending on who you ask, but I had few complaints.
Glasslands is nonsense all the way through. Halsey is suddenly the devil to everyone and their dog, Blue Team and friends spend the whole book sitting on their asses, with a significant chunk of focus instead being placed on Traviss' team of OC donut steels and ONI's retard conspiracy plot to sabotage the sangheili. Jul and Phillips are maybe some of the only redeeming elements. The whole trilogy is subpar, Glasslands simply gets honorable mention for kicking it off.

I think the book has legimate flaws, obviously, but I thought this complaint was always overblown. The only people who treat here like that are the actual kilo 5 aquad, which were explictly stated by paragonsky to have been selected BECAUSE she knew they'd hate her because paragonsky is a bitch who has always hated halsey.
Mendez is a little hostile to her, but that's not unreasonable for his outlook on the program to have changed after 40 years.
Also, It's not like she was intended to be a pure hero from the start, either, even in tFor it goes out of it's way to stress that what they are doing is immoral as fuck.
