The game gets better every dungeon as you level up, unlock more classes and characters. I played the demo and deleted it and never looked back because I thought it was crap.
Bought the actual game when it was on sale and it was one of the best experiences I've had with gaming. 150+ hours of content that didn't get stale and it got very very hard and it forced you to use different classes and stuff later on. Haven't found a better DRPG yet.

Demon Gaze is cheap, casual and well designed for newcomers to the genre.
DT2 requires a lot of concentration and despite being well designed requires a lot of effort put into beating the later dungeons.
Operation Abyss is an early PC DRPG that has gameplay that isn't advanced as the others.
Stranger of sword city is great but due to perma death it basically forces you to play cautiously.
Moe Chronicles is casual and fun and great if you can import it.

Yup I think EO games are legitimately good. They have god tier soundtracks and nicely mix the classes up each time while adding nice OoL improvements.
As far as other dungeon crawlers go I'm about halfway through wizardry 8 and loving it. All the DC I played on the vita so far just feel like lame copies of older wizardry games with anime injected. Admittedly I only did the first 4 areas of DT2 but it was dull as shit and none of the character building stuff seemed interesting.

Not him but I got to the sewer level of DT2 and got bored of it. Its like they tried to be Wizardy IV levels of annoying with some of their dungeons. I enjoyed Tokyo Abyss and platted it and am enjoying SoSC, so somehow DT2 just didn't click for me. Also for reference, EO4 burned me out in the third area you go to with the airship and P4Q in the level after the hospital. Years ago I also went through most of the Gold Box, but that's another decade.

They're not bad games at all and I'm glad that EO kind of resurrected the genre a bit but I just don't find myself as immersed as other games.
