Honestly, I'm waiting until Zen comes out to decide if I go AMD or Intel for CPU, and waiting to see what Vega looks like before upgrading.
I still get 50-60 FPS on Ultra for Witcher 3 and GTA5 at 1080P, so there really is no need to upgrade yet.

Not sure to be honest, I'll try and hold onto my 780 for a couple of months and see what performance I'm getting, if it's bad I'll probably make a new build from scratch with a 1070 or a 1080 and a 6600k, else I'll just hold out for the 1100 series.

Why not?

I doubt you can find more than 5 games that would actually get bottlenecked

And we both know many of those would not be worth playing at all
>>
My current PC is also first build I did:
>GTX 770 2gb
>i5 4670 (non k, I'm a retard I know, but i didn't plan for OC'ing ever and I was a poorfag then)
>8gb ram

I don't know much about PC's, been wondering what would happen if I buy 1070 sometime in the future. What I'm afraid of is:
-CPU bottleneck
-PSU shitting itself- 550w corsair mid range one, not sure if it's up to task, been handling my 770 nicely so far.

Its my work laptop. Its done really well since I bought it in 2013, since it got me into PC gaming in the first place, but after running 24/7 I can feel it dying. Performance issues are occuring fairly regular these days, and I cant blame it all on shitty optimization, shitty drivers and Windows crap anymore.

Honestly the 290 is pretty good and unless you have a lot of money to spare or are going for 4K it might not be worth upgrading to a 980ti. Definitely worth upgrading the CPU though. i7 4790K is a good choice but also may be worth going for a skylake 6700k but obviously the mobo will cost a bit more.

I know how you feel anon. I suggest only ditching the cpu and motherboard for an Intel one. Amd just runs like shit. At the beginning of this year I sold my 8320 and mobo got an Intel 4690k. Now there's no more frame dips and stutters while playing. That's what killed me, the dam dips. After overclocking I was getting much better benchmark results but I was still having frame dips...
As for the gpu, I think you should keep it until you're ready to upgrade your monitor. Still holding onto my gtx 780 until the flagship gpus come out later. By then I'll have money for a higher res monitor and whichever card.

Not a chance, you'll do well the entire generation easily with that CPU.
But yeah, you'll have to upgrade the GPU, and maybe get a better PSU.
Also, whenever you have some spare money, add another 8GB of RAM, some games are already asking for more RAM and having the FPS shit itself whenever it runs out of it.
>>
>>340412949
that i5 should be fine in regards to bottlenecking. and if i recall, pascal is more power-efficient than kepler was

It feels like lately my CPU has been holding me back so I wanted to upgrade to a new better one, but apparently my motherboard is so old I need a new one for a Skylake 1151 socket

Should I shell out the money for the new motherboard and buy a new CPU and Motherboard, or are the Haswell i5s or i7s good enough? I see some sites that shill say the Skylakes are best thing ever but some say Haswell is perfectly fine if I'm doing gaming and have a good GPU

Going to get me a new GPU soon. Probably a RX 480 8gb.

Eventually I'll grab another one, maybe I'll go for a new Intel i7 6700k and 480 crossfire build and reuse the 270x, FX8350 PC as an emulation box.

I'm not going to spend 1500 on a brand new build when I can get a decent build for 400, upgrade it for another 300, and then spend like 1000 on a new build later and reuse some of the old stuff.

m.2 is a new form factor for SSDs that typically plugs right into your motherboard and uses either a SATA connection or your PCI lanes for ridiculously fast speeds.

Don't worry about it, most people make at least one mistake in picking the right components. Your CPU is still good enough for any game out there right now, but you're not future proof whereas the 6600k will be the new i5-2500k and will last at least 5 years maxing out all games and it'll last even longer considering overclocking.

The 6600k can handle any GPU out there right now, the 6600k won't be bottlenecking any GPU's, even 5 years from now I would bet money that the 6600k will not be a significant bottleneck for future GPU's.

The best value if you're planning on upgrading your GPU is to wait until the 29th for the AMD 480 to come out, it'll be $200 for GTX 980 performance allegedly. It will be the best price/performance GPU since the GeForce 8800 if it turns out to be what it's all chalked up to be.
