Honestly, I was disappointed seeing how much love this game receives. It's a very good game, no doubt about it, but Dark Souls and Bloodborne feels better in every way.

Honestly, gimmicky bosses are one of my favourite things about DeS. Every boss feels like its own thing. The sequels have several bosses where you fight more than enemy at the same time, or giant as fuck bosses. DeS only does it to add some variety.

No, souls movement is clunky where any other game you could save yourself from a step away from falling. But in souls your fucked because of the edgebox delay vs input.
Not to mention you literally have to time your item gets around archers because From deliberately put items in front of archers knowing people will dive in and can't close out of it fast enough to roll. Not to mention getting impaled can bounce you off a wall and off an edge.

You're describing situations in which the game was specifically designed to put incautious players in. The only bit of credence you have is the movement issues, which again, wasn't a huge deal and addressed in later games.

It does precisely that. If you get hurt the first time, y'know, in the tutorial area with crossbow men, you should learn that not every item is worth immediately grabbing. And who are you to qualify a trap as "shameless"? If you fell for it, it clearly worked, whether you think it's "cheap", "shameless", or whatever else makes you feel better for falling for a simple bait and switch.
And go ahead, name me instances in which the edgebox delay vs input was truly such an issue that prevented or reset your progress. There was only one high wire act in DeS, and it was completely unnecessary.
The game is not without flaws, as any other, but it seems to me as if you're cherry picking issues you specifically had.
Bloodborne and Demon Souls are the best. They feel the most fresh and original.
Dark Souls 1-3 are a spin off, and more of the same. A bit rehashy. Good games, except 2.

Literally any time you're fighting an enemy on a ledge or intentional falling area., even worse when you're juggling two. You can easily get knocked off just by shit hotboxes. I can't even keep track of how much I've gone for a backstab, the enemy turns around and bumps me off the ledge.
And then theres the point where From just plop enemies down that have no sense of awareness and just aggro off the edge.
DeS again, is just a rough game that FS fixed somewhat in the later titles.
It's aged pretty bad and in no way is the best souls game.

Either Bloodborne or Dark Souls would be the best Souls game, but there are a lot of little things that add up to make it my favorite.

I liked it too. The only issue is that if you pick up an item, and it's maxed, the item is lost if you return.
If I were to make a souls game, I would expand upon it with a system of bags, backpacks, etc. Your physical strength determines the max weight you can carry. More weight drains more stamina. Your max bags are your maximum carrying capacity.
