The silencer could offer a reduced notification radius. That way it will alert those in the vicinity and won't be the equivalent of a longrange knife in terms of silence.

How much the sound is lessened depends on the caliber and type of round or firearm used.

Now why would I take the chance on that when the bolt action will kill in one shot to the torso? Not many games where even a semi-auto gun will kill in one shot to the chest.

Not that poster but I've played games where the notification radius is lessened but the minimum range and the max range have the same number of alerted enemies no matter what.
