I know Sonic fans don't like to wait so here are some massive spoilers about the upcoming anniversary games. You heard that right, not just one game. There will be 2 titles released to celebrate 25 years of Sonic the Hedgehog, one starring Classic Sonic exclusively (Sonic Pixels) and another starring both Classic and Modern Sonic (Sonic Generations 2). Sonic Pixels is about an untold Sonic adventure set some time after the events of Sonic 1. 2D gameplay as you'd expect, 16-Bit graphics with some special 3D effects and a Genesis soundtrack. Every zone from Sonic 1 Genesis/Master System is in the game (including special stages), with new level designs and sprite art. There are 6 Chaos Emeralds. There are also some brand new zones, one being set in space where Sonic runs around small whimsical planets (some of the Sonic 1 concept enemies make cameos here), another being set in a desert with references to Dust Hill Zone. The game features a time attack mode where you can race your own ghost going through specific Zones/Acts or even the entire game. Another mode lets you create/share your own special stage maps. Overall it's a really fun game, extremely nostalgic and they got the physics right for once. You can tell they studied Sonic 1 a lot when developing the game. Now let's talk about Sonic Generations 2, the plot is basically the same, Eggman trying to mess up time, not learning his lesson and using his tricks from the past to try and defeat Sonic once and for all. Claiming he didn't try hard enough last time. No Time Eater, Eggman discovers the Time Stones and that's what messes up time again. However this time they only go back to the classic era. Here are the stages: Green Hill (Version 1 million, for some reason there are pink slime pits now), Labyrinth, Starlight, Emerald Hill (yes 2 hill zones), Casino Night (Lost World's was almost a prototype for this, has a similar pinball mini game), Metropolis, Hydrocity, Lava Reef, Death Egg, Doomsday. Same gameplay too

Sorry if you were expecting Adventure 3 or something completely new but it's nostalgia again. I don't mind honestly.

Unless Taxman is on board, I don't believe you.

The 2D Classic Sonic game seems like a cool thing, but I'll be somewhat disappointed if the 3D one is actually Generations 2. I mean, come on, guys, it's about time you made something original already.

I fully believe that it'll be genesis pandering but the fact you even mentioned master system sonic discredits you. They'll repackage those games a billion times but they'll never legitimately acknowledge them. That's putting aside how fucking dumb the rest of the post is

But of course, you never cared if I believed you or not. You just wanted my (You)'s. You win, I guess?

>Casino Night

Casino Night was DLC for Generations dipshit.

How about you put this in an email and send it off to SEGA? Maybe they'll give you the care that we surely won't.
>>
Fucking when?
FUCKING WHEN? No more of these shitstain classic sonic rehashing bullshit..! For fuck sakes
>>
>>340344447

Not to mention Generations 3DS had Casino Night too.
>>
I'd like to believe that Sega are actually going to release a faithful attempt at a Classic Sonic game instead of another game like Sonic 4, but honestly I never really liked the level design or physics of classic sonic anyway. I would've preferred a DKCR / Rayman Legends style game where they take the format and spirit of the classic series and give it some modern polish.

I hear Generations was really good so that's nice, I guess. Let's get another Sonic and Sega racing game with better series representation and no third party garbage.
>>
>>340344467
Fuck no, Unleashed has already been rehashed for two games after it, go play those.

You'll probably see gameplay of this when the trailer drops, they actually do know that game existed they just never cared enough until now for some reason.
>>
>There will be two titles
>One of them isn't Sonic Boom Fire and Ice
You tried, anon.
>>
>>340344467
Unleashed should've been Sonic and Knuckles 2.
>>
>>340344651
Buddy, that third party garbage funded probably more than half the sequel. Having a pixar movie character or a nascar driver as an icon in the character select is a small price to pay if it means the game actually gets money to be made
>>
>>340344718
Sonic Boom isn't celebrating 25 years of Sonic. Wait for the trailer.
>>
>>340341402
>Casino Night
This was in Generations already, what the fuck.
>>
>>340344686
Colors was liquid shit and Generations had no effort and content. Its a decent substitute but its not a real sequel/rehash
>>

Sonic's a Trump supporter
>>
>>340344794

I can accept that, but I wish there was an option to disable those characters in lobby settings or something. It kind of removes from the experience. Especially the Youtuber DLC. If they had to include third parties again to make another sequel happen then I'd rather not have it, but knowing how much potential the IP has, I'm always gonna wish for another entry in the series with more content that's purely SEGA content.

>>340344467
>Unleashedfag showing up this early
I don't know why I'm surprised
>>
>Classic game based on Sonic 1 physics

But Sonic 1 sucks balls in that area. 2 and 3 is where is at!
>>
>>340345192
The wall just got 10 lines longer
>>
>>340343938

A Generations 2 has potential if Sega decided to go out of the box and surprise people. Fans would flip out if they saw the Sonic 2 beta Hidden Palace Zone recreated in 3D or Ice Cap's zone snowboard section. That or really poke fun at 2006 with an intentionally glitchy level.
>>
>>340344696
>when the trailer drops

When will this be?
>>
>>340345301
If they do Generations 2 I want them to include overworlds like the PS3 and 360 versions of Unleashed had, mostly because those were actually just pretty comfy.
>>
>>340345212
The first game did decently but wasnt an overwhelming success where sumo got a bigger budget. I dont know how sales of transformed went and they had little faith in it since it launched at $40 despite being ambitious and having a big campaign
>>
>>340345239
>if you want a sequel to unleashed you're only one person

(You)

>>340345446
Nope! Hubs trigger cry babies, no matter if theyre small or meaningful like Unleasheds. Enjoy your empty blank white worlds of nothing with cutouts of the levels in 2D!

Sonic 25th Joyopolis party. On June 23rd Aaron Webber will post a teaser on the Sonic Facebook

It's not hard to know its you when every post you make is the internet equivalent of crying and throwing your own shit at the walls.
>>
>>340345592
>if you want a sequel to unleashed you're only one person
>attempting the "anon isn't only one person!" routine
nope, sorry senpai. Unleashed is easily in my top five Sonic games, but you always have the same fucking retarded sentence structure and posting style. You're either samefagging or 90% of Unleashed fans are retarded niggers, I choose to believe it's the first one.
>>
>>340345453

It's a real shame, because it was such a refreshing game for a kart racer. Amazing gameplay, a really engaging campaign not far from the likes of CTR, pretty dope soundtrack, nice amounts of fan service though they could've went further.

I guess it's a combination of Mario Kart being too much of a titan to surpass mixed with Sonic not being that revered in this generation. I was pretty skeptical when I heard of a SEGA kart racer (this also considering they'd done Sonic R prior).
>>
>>340345301
Internationally glitchy. That'd be funny. How about a Silver boss stuck in a loop?
>>
>>340346030
Wasn't Silver actually pretty glitchy in Generations? I mean can't you get him permanently stuck laying on the ground if you fuck up somehow?

What if the hub world was Chao Garden
>>
>>340346248
Yeah, the bosses too, especially Egg Dragoon. It's pretty obvious that they developed the bosses last.
>>
>>340346521
The game honestly could've done just fine without any bosses, getting some an extra level or two would've been better.
>>
>>340345941
It is a great game even though I prefer the first one a lot more. The sense of speed is better and i like the characters and maps more. Transformed has more unique areas but the design isnt always as good. Shinobi or monkey ball are meh while burning rangers, outrun, and skies of arcadia are goat. Really didnt like the sonic choices either. Seaside hill again and starlight carnival? Meh, tired of seaside hill and didnt care for colors. If there was a phantasy star, shenmue, or valkyria chronicles level with lots of driving I wouldve just put it above the first one. The idea of a sonic driver was always a good idea and sumo was the studio that did it justice. Perhaps when they have less on their plates sega will contact them again for a next gen all stars racer.

you already got that family
>>
>>340344580
Generations 3DS was the quick Dimps cash grab.
>>
>>340345824
>>340345907
Whose crying and throwing shit at the walls? Yall are just biased because youve got a new coping mechanism and insults to shit out whenever someone dares to praise unleashed. It was 8 years ago, extremely ambitious, and the last sonic game that felt like a full adventure, get over it already.
>>
>>340346690

Yeah, I definitely agree on the courses. They have so much to pull from but the Seaside level didn't really feel like much of a Sonic level at all. I think it'd be good to bring back some of the courses in the next installment if it ever happens. The rage inducing Billy Hatcher corner is essential. I think the last game was released recently enough that we won't be seeing another entry for a while if at all. Maybe for the 30th anniversary or something.
>>
>>340346975
>get over it already
You're doing it right now, you fucking retard.
>>
This post is so fake. Everyone knows it's going to be adventure 3 by now
>>
>>340341402
I fucking hope this is true. I remember last time some other Sonic game got leaked here legitimately. Think it was Sonic runners.
>>
>>340347174
Nothing wrong with reusing assets, the first game did it admirably. That corner on billy hatcher is the skill test, if you can pass it on expert without crashing then youre already better than 70% of players. The next humble bundle is supposedly one thats all sonic games so maybe the population will spike up a bit and create just a tiny bit more demand. Transformed was 2012 so its not to early to have one out by 2017 or 18 if they want to squueze one out for this gen
>>
>>340347205
I dunno man. I think SEGA is too unpredictable to just assume that. Sure Adventure 3 is probably the most likely sequel (along with Generations 2) but they could just as likely throw out an original Sonic title.
>>
>>340346395
Well then it would be a good game, wouldn't it?
>>
>>340346705
That's not fair. That'd be like if you got asked for a double cheeseburger and got a bag full of dog shit. You can't be like "You can't get another cheeseburger because you already got the one I gave you"

>food analogies
>>
>>340346705
By your logic then unleashed and colors would be our adventure 3 as well
>>
>>340347874
I feel that the Sonic Adventure nostalgia is the the hottest iron to strike right now. Kids who grew up with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 during the GameCube era are in their 20s now. Genesisfags are more or less on their way into adulthood and are less likely to be pandered to.
>>
>>340347752

Can't say I noticed re-used assets so you're not wrong. I hope you're right about the bundle. That combined with anniversary games could definitely go a long way in making Sonic popular again if the new games are actually solid titles independent of the fansevice. I think people have generally been fine with Sonic games lately, the reputation has shifted from all new Sonic games being garbage to recent Sonic games being better than you'd expect or hidden gems to an extent. It'd be nice for Sonic to be something that gets a lot of healthy discussion for it's games again instead of it's fanbase.
>>
>>340348378

Yeah, this is the same reason why Nintendo never made a New Super Mario Bros in the 00s.
>>
>>340347874

I don't think they will after how badly Lost World was received and how much Sega is in the shitter right now. The last original decent effort they made was Colors as a total fluke. They keep making original titles and fucking up the gameplay with ideas that don't work like Unleashed's Werehog, 06's Silver, Lost World's cylinder worlds, etc.

It makes more sense to make a sense or something with nostalgia as a throwback to play it safe and gain hype.
>>
>>340348461
Well i meant how they picked certain themes and made 3 levels with them. Im referring to all stars racing 1, not transformed. You know like 3 casino sonic levels, 3 seaside sonic levels, 3 fortress, 3 samba de amigo levels, 3 billy hatcher levels etc etc. They were all similar in theme but had very different layouts so it worked.

Sega has been doing a lot of good will this year. They gave away tons of games in february for free and not just junk, there was some goodies. Lost world was average but wasnt terrible, boom is somehow just scraping by because of the cartoon being funny and the 3DS game, if anyone played it, wasnt nearly as offensive as the wii u game. The boost games are generally regarded as solid and people are examining unleashed with a new lens, partly due to nostalgia and partly because it got trashed way to hard when it was released.

Interest in sonic is currently low because there isnt much to talk about with the lack of games and again, not every mascot can go strong for 25 years and counting. But i have faith in this years game too. If i managed to enjoy 3D blast and shadow then theres really no way in hell I WONT enjoy the next main Sonic Team game unless its 06/Boom wii u tier. But theres not a shot in hell thats happening
>>
>>340348845
>The last original decent effort they made was Colors as a total fluke
Colors was just "boost formula with no Werehog and Mario tier powerups". I don't really know if original is the right word to use there, there sure ain't much that's original about that game except the level concepts I guess.
>>
>>340348378
>>340348845
I guess you're right. I want SA3 to happen but I'm trying not to get my hopes up for another Sonic announcement after Boom and Lost World.
>>
>>340349029

I think even a game like Lost World is a sign that SEGA is moving in the right direction. They focused on gimmicks instead of fundamentals in the gameplay again, but there are still elements of innovation that do work in that gameplay, like the minor parkour elements in 2D sections. Then you have the focus on a new cast of villains with interesting, lighthearted designs with a lot of character, beautiful animation and aesthetics and a really fitting cartoony feel that's actually not too far from classic Sonic, more of the great music that modern Sonic is known for these days. Sega is definitely on the ball with their nostalgia titles like the racers and Generations, even the Sonic CD re-release, so I'm confident they can deliver another good one too. I'm only worried if they try to make another attempt at reinventing the wheel with another new gimmicky game.
