I never understood the appeal of babysitting the team while they get to enjoy the fun combat.
Healer can be fun when your team is good like when you're playing with your friends. However when playing with randoms it's just annoying and frustrating 2bh.
It feels good to be of help.

I don't know why I just like support classes. Tank, buff, heals. It's all good.
I like playing classes classes that can both damage and heal. Like I used to love playing shadow priest in WoW because I both shitty damage and shitty healing instead of one or the other. I also really enjoyed chloromancer in Rift. That's why I think Lucio is a great fit for me, since I can do damage and be useful by healing simultaneously. Mercy is way too fucking passive for me.

I've played healer in a few MOBAs before, but my experience as healer in shooters is minimal. I will say that making big saves for your buddies can be pretty fun, but I much prefer to bring some actual impact to fights other than just topping off somebody's HP when they need it.

Mercy's a whole lot of fun, and Lucio's great on the point. A lot more to manage than the Medic in TF2, but you don't have as many offensive options comparatively.

As FPS medic, I'm always at the top of the scoreboard because rezozing and healing gives so any easy points
I like playing Medic in TF2.
I don't just follow around any Heavy and wait to die. I pick some one competent and stick with them. I also heal up everyone when they're nearby, unless it's an obnoxious scout.
And I rarely die. If it looks like my heal target is being an idiot and going to get us both killed, I let him do his thing and go find some one smarter to help. Plus I'm great with the syringe gun, so weak or damaged classes go down fast if I'm alone. It's pretty fun.

I use to do that but the more I played the more I learned when to use the boost. Also I'm almost always in heal mode unless I'm by myself or with a high health character, then it's speed boost and razmataz all over the fucking place.
The one issue I still have is with his ultimate. If I try to hold onto it until it's really needed, like a push or defending against another ultimate then I'll use it once or twice a match. On the other hand I could just use it when there's one or two people around but then it just feels like a waste.

TF2 Medic was super fun. You had shit to do at all times, even when your team wasn't involved in a skirmish, and you could also definitely stand your own ground in a fight with the needle gun and bonesaw whenever healing wasn't absolutely necessary. Haven't played Overwatch, but Lucio sounds like a fun guy, mobility and troubadour buffs plus heals in one package? Hell yeah.
