To remind you again. The warhammer in TW is different from DoW. TW uses the fantasy setting. If you don't know about that you probably should read a bit about the lore to see if you are interested, since it's slightly different from 40k.

Total War games are pretty simplistic and boring. Central line, bring in calvary, snipe general. Repeat. We don't know much about DoW3 yet other than they're trying to keep the unit focus of 2 with the size of 1.
