It better be top-tier pixel art on a per-pixel canvas of at least 1920x1080 where no pixel is wasted. Where it's physics enabled for certain criteria dependant on unit health,unit type, structure, and combat ability.
Chances are, the next AoE will be made by a bunch of hipster nobodies with no idea what they're doing and make it look super cartoony and not even a shadow of previous games.

Contrary to popular beliefs weapons and arms together with tactics did made significant leap from Rome to Medieval age.
You went from having l goofing looking roman armor to Full Plate armor on horseback with a lance.
