It determines the distance where NPC's can still have A.I. (e.g. will walk around)
If you turn draw distance to far, but turn the A.I. distance to be closer, any NPC's or monsters that are within your view, but outside of the A.I. distance will simply stand still.
Really it's just a distant animation slider.
You won't see any performance impact o newer machine, only when there are a large number of NPC's in view with mods and such will you see an increase of 5 or so frames

Am I the only one who believes medium armor isn't bad in the base game, just that glass armor is broken in how much armor it offers compared to everything else in the game?
Like, if you were to just look at every type of armor set in the game and compare the armor rating to weight ratios of each armor set, glass armor would be a ridiculous outlier in the overall trend.
Glass armor should have an armor rating of like 15 or 20, not fucking 50.
