That ring or 'scum' underneath the control sticks is just plastic rubbing off the stick housing. Go look at your Xbox/Dualshock controllers and you'll see it on the left stick(s) (since you're more likely to be holding it forwards and rolling it around in the housing) than the right stick, which you just tap around when moving a camera.

Did anyone else feel that Uncharted 4 lacked gameplay a lot of the time?
It seemed to be broken down into 30 minutes of climbing, walking and talking, 5-15 minute puzzle solvers and then 5-10 minutes of shooting people before returning to the walking again, with a cutscene thrown somewhere inbetween.
I enjoyed the game, but it really felt like I wasn't doing anything except walking, talking and climbing the whole game. The other Uncharted usually spaced this out a bit better.
