Yes. Go ahead and shut it down

It's the "file explorer" ie. your task bar will disappear and you cannot open any folders. Reboot fixes this.

I'd also recommend stopping crsrss.exe too, it's useless and just eats up memory.

Is there some kind of virus that knows when you open task manager and stops then restarts once you close it?

They're windows services. Svchost exists because windows moved things from exe to dll a long time ago and you need an actual program to access and use the dll.

You can't do anything about them except turning off windows services in Windows prior to 10.
>>
>>340264006
As the other dude say you just need to open the control panel and start the process yourself again

i still don't think it should be using an entire core and half my ram senpai
>>
>>340270015
1. You have no idea what you're talking about "using an entire core." Things don't use cores as resources. If the service can't be parallelized then it's going to run on a single thread and thus a single core.
2. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. It doesn't matter how much it's using as long as it isn't interfering with other things you want to do.

If you don't like them, right click them and click "go to services" to see which are running under that svchost and disable the ones you don't want.

I think that's how many extensions you have, because I still see many processes with only one tab open
>>
>>340270187
Many Windows functions are tied to it, you dummy.

It's not a virus or some shit, you have to go disable the individual functions that are using it, and most are essential for running the OS.
>>
>>340270846
Extensions have their own processes, but tabs do as well.
Weirdly enough, some tabs actually share a single process. You can see it in chrome's own task manager.
