funny thing about spidey is that he always looks kinda awkward when he has a normal posture.
he's always being seen doing something acrobatic and dexterous. The pose fits him extremely well, regardless of the fact it was likely inspired by the jap spidey live action shows.

Character's animations took a dive too. Compare the Sentinel animations from Children of the Atom to MvC2.
Also, the best titles in the Vs. series are MvC1 and TvC.
I feel MvC3 could have been great if more effort was put into it and if Niitsuma wasn't a lying piece of shit.
