Sorey was the fast one, then Mikleo came in with slower, but stronger AoEs (like most of the seraphim). Alisha was slower than Sorey but tankier, and could keep an enemy locked up in a combo for a good amount of time with decent damage. It was a well-rounded team composition.
Then Rose came in and became Sorey 2.0 with higher damage. Because people would forgive her existence if she invalidated the MC's role in the party, right?

While everyone was triggered over the bitchy protag, level locked characters, COURAGE IS THE MAGIC, etc. what bothered me the most was how they pretty much replaced all of the english cast except for Kratos (who gets maybe 4 lines in) and Collete. Not the other anon, but Abyss has a real love it/hate it fanbase. Gameplay wise, it's pretty standard 3D Tales. Imagine Symphonia with free run. Free run breaks the game, but combat is still pretty fun. The lore/characters is what really makes Abyss. The characters are all assholes to each other, and Luke, the protagonist, is an insufferable cunt. Luke has some of the best character development in Tales so the payoff is well worth it. Abyss's world building is also very heavy with big chunks of early dialogue explaining the world's religion and pseudo physics/science. Personally, it's my favorite Tales, and if you stick with it, the payoff is worth it.
