I thought this was a Terraria thread and came in to ask about this game. How is it? The reviews imply there is a lack of content and watching some videos the combat seems wonky and the game a little unfinished.

this game is a clear 100% ripoff and cashgrab and it's not even multiplayer
Combat isn't too bad actually. It takes a lot of influence from starbound, but does things better. Monster's aren't random, they each have unique movement and attack patterns, and their abilities are pretty good. They also look really good, because it's not SO RANDOM PROCEDURAL GENERATION, and actual pixel art. Once this gets MP, it'll knock starbound down a notch. Also you can upgrade and seal runes to enhance your gear, pretty neat.
Oh, and you can spend souls gathered from enemies to literally become the enemy, and use their abilities. Could be really interesting for boss battles.

I have, Terraria, Starbound, dig or die, Signs of Life, and all the relaed in this genre.
I bought this a while before it came out on steam into the alpha.
Compared to the rest....PLANEY CENTAURI Is:

Oh. No. This Centauri game. I've pretty much wrung every ounce of content Terraria could offer but it's just such a good game I want more.
Most of the content they show off in the trailer isn't even in the game.
Why should I play this when Terraria is infinitely better and even Starbound has more content?

My biggest complaints about Terraria are the grind times, the RNG being a bitch and the combat being shitty as fuck
You gotta grind and grind and grind to craft even the most mundane of all things, and you gotta grind even more for all the cool shit in the game. Want to create an item that will completely make everything much more easier by removing the most common debuffs from being applied to you? lol have fun grinding at 0.5% to 1% drop chance.
I killed over 200 pixies and over 100 unicorns and I didn't even get the fucking items they are supposed to drop. The only thing I got is the blessed Apple, from an unicorn. No megaphone or fast clock from over 200 pixies killed.
The combat is just most enemies being only "lol i touch u and now u dead lol" type of enemies while there are actually much fewer enemies that do shoot projectiles, except those that spawn from the moon-fuck event.
I am salty as fuck. Expert mode is just "lol abide to only certain sets of strategies or else you cannot advance in the game lol also discard every single item get yoyo lol"

I already stopped playing Terraria after around 25h since I just wanted to play more Minecraft, really.

Terraria had a slow development before it got good, despite being years old it's only recently had an update that actually completes the game so many of the reviews will focus on periods where the game was more less in the state Minecraft will be in forever.
It's basically minecraft if it was 2-d and had a well thought out combat system and progression system.
Building is given an incentive by providing housing for npcs, sort of like a "build your own world hub" feature, a large focus is placed on weapons and crafting, with actual "builds" based on armor (ranged, magic, summoning, melee, ect.)
The combat is ok, mainly involving weaker hording enemies with collision attacks, though as the game progresses the enemies become better designed with more interesting AI and such. Bosses tend to be good and also improve as the game goes on.
I feel it's main flaw is that speed of progression is completely user based, if you follow the progression paths given by the guide quickly the gear set you're on (for example, you're using iron armor and the next upgrade is tungsten) it feels like it's one gear tier per boss, so you'll tend to replace weapons and armor quickly if you progress quickly. In this sense it feels like there is a lack of content per "tier" to make you feel like you've fully enjoyed it.

Nothing after the dungeon even debuffs those IIRC. Most stuff in the game isn't a combination of 8 items at a 1% drop rate. It's completing a boss once or twice and crafting fresh gear.

I like Terarria as it's own thing, since it's 2D you have to add more verticality, it also allows for more complex combat than Minecraft.
While in Minecraft, exploring the more horizontal world is fun, but then you notice it's just a empty sandbox with little to nothing to do other than build shit.
I don't know if Terraria's content and combat would mesh well with 3D gameplay.

Hmm. Video starts off 100% terraria ripoff. Toward the end I started getting interested though. Guess it all depends on how much of the new interesting stuff they add in, how long it takes to reach it, and how much it ez-modes the game using it.
I wouldn't mind if they pull a saints row and just go full retard with mecha, transformations, mounts, towns, and crazy shit. That would be worth a purchase. But if 70% of the gameplay is identical to terraria with a few extra features, than why bother?
