Maybe I'm just bad with him, but every time I play as Zen I just feel useless. He dies in .69 seconds and has no mobility skills, and his damage and healing are both pretty shitty. Usually when I play as Zen I get about 3000 healing and similar damage, and with a dedicated healer or damage dealer I do 10k+, not saying that's a lot but relative to Zen it's way different for me.

In practice that means selling "chances to get items" often makes more money than simply allowing people to buy the items straight out, both because of the addictive nature of the reveal but also because that means you can essentially have people buy things they wouldn't otherwise buy, because what they're buying are chances not absolutes.
There's a reason the majority of mobile games, AAA FPS and so on have some sort of loot based system in recent years and it's this.
