Currently I've been using the enchanted tent mod. I'm enjoying it so far, especially since I don't fast travel. It's cool riding into town, setting up a tent, and then hanging out there for a few days while I do quests and get to know the city.

Except the view distance there isn't much difference, is there?
>>
>>340146053
While the game has it's flaws, there are two things that truly upset me about Oblivion:

1) It was made with consoles in mind, so it by default has a hiddeous UI that one needs to install Darnified to rid themselves of

2) It's poorly optimized. Having a beastly rig will not protect you from frame drops or performance issues, which I guess may as well be attributed to #1.

>That first time you played Oblivion

What was your first character? It was my first ES game and I thought Argonians seemed pretty cool so I made an Argonian with a focus on heavy armors and melee. (Not a furry...scalie...whatever. I promise.) Never realized how much I missed the disease/poison resistance and underwater breathing until I made further non-argonians. I remember fucking up and making my character have an underbite though.

A damn good questline. I really like the fact that the game can be played without having to rely on quest markers.

The journal system in Skyrim gives absolutely no information, it's just "Find DickBucker Cave" and expects you to follow an arrow to get there.

>>
>>340147238
You can do that?
>>
>>340146996
I think that happened to me. But I didn't even know you could become one. I remember waiting outside and when the wait was done, I'd instantly die. Thought my game was glitched and played for a couple days without knowing why I'd randomly take damage or why I looked like dogshit. Felt dumb as hell when I realized I was a vamp and the sun was kicking my ass.
>>
>>340147238
you just gave me a flashback to trying to do the ghost ship quest in anvil way unprepared. So I noped out but the ghosts followed me and proceeded to murder like half the town before the guards managed to put them down with their silver swords
>>
>>340147308
I think the way to get past that is to just force yourself to sit down and play.

I know personally I would sit, test my mods, and then be like "Oh now I want a mod for THIS" and then 3 hours later I have 20 new mods and haven't really played the game at all.

Just sit and go for it, keep a little list of mod ideas to focus on later.
>>
>>340147373
Fucking kek.
These sorts of unintentional and random chaos is what made the game for me. I remember I was given the frenzy scroll as a part of a quest, I used it not knowing exactly what it would do and it resulted in so many innocent, good people dying.

>>
>>340146872
My first was Argonian, because lizardmen are cool. As class I choose spellsword, because heavy armor, sworss and magic are cool, also the class picture was nixe.

My vote would go to Oblivion. There's this one spot that's completely isolated and unmarked. It has no purpose to it's existence but it's one of the most coziest things I've ever seen. Really great, enjoyable storyline. Best part is the level progression and world though. There are two main downsides though. Anyone ever realize TES flip flops the chosen one cliche a lot?

TES:A-You're a random schmuk who is chosen to defeat Jagar Tharn and free the Emperor, you're not really allowed to forge your own path.

TES:DF-Again, you're not outside of fate, you were meant to pick one option at the end, but somehow you caused the universe to have a seizure which became known as the Warp in the West.

TES:M-You are the chosen one, but also not. Maybe. You are free to do as you damn well please, even if it means fucking up the prophecy. You are outside any laws set by the gods because you are outside fate itself. Infact you even kill a couple of gods (one of whom was at low power, the other you had to dodge and block while hitting his power source) and beat the shit out of a daedric prince.

TES:O-You're sort of a chosen one but kinda aren't, you're like Nerevar, placed outside of fate, but you aren't the one that saves the world technically. You're the main character in the story but you aren't the Hero. You at least control your fate like Nerevar. Enjoy being the new mad god!

TES:S-You're the chosen one with a leash. Your life's goal is to kill Alduin, that takes priority. However once that's done you're free to do as you please. Your soul belongs to Akatosh above all else unless you royally fuck up.

Khajiit nightblade. Did the Theives Guild first after "accidentally" nicking some sweet shit out of a magic store. Had been arrested a couple times before so I had the foresight to stash my shit in an empty box before being hauled to prison.

Then some bitch approached me and told me about the thieves guild, so I joined.

With that Gray Cowl, man. And after finding that Skeleton Key, holy shit. I was the fucking prowler on the rooftops, I burgled every large house in every fucking city.

The basement in the Skingrad house? I'd just thrown item after item in there, stolen silver fixtures, weapons, armor, my framerate was dipping so hard with all this sweet stolen shit.

I burgled almost everything of value in the Imperial City without being so much as seen entering or leaving by anyone.

... I wanna go back to Cyrrodil.

Breton Spellblade with the long hair.

Also, anyone remember how cool the paralyze spell looked in Oblivion?

Like, they'd go stiff but they have a little give, kind of like plastic dolls? And they always fell in the exact position you hit them.
