Well, if you're on Vita definitely start with Re;birth 1 and see how well you like it (the 2nd and 3rd Re;births are slightly different combat wise if this deters you) however, if you end up enjoying the game for what it is, blatant waifu pandering which seems to be what you're looking for in a weeb game, you should enjoy it.
The spin offs I cannot honestly vouch for, I bought them to give IFI and Compile Heart money so they will keep doing what they do but they're fairly bad (in my opinion) the main games are godlike to me though

The anime was absolutely perfection, much better than I ever could've hoped for it to turn out. The only thing that bothered me was Iffy's character... not to spoil it she uses a rather interesting weapon instead of her Qatar that makes absolutely zero sense. ...point being, they sent out the info that they were localizing an "Akiba's Trip spiritual successor" before the game even got announced in Japan. It's coming, and I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled an Orgarhythm and helped fund it, hence getting an earlier localization.
To that end, Fate/Extella is the same deal. They're showing it off at E3, and for whatever reason the information I've been given says that the game is getting extra attention in the west. It's even being ported to PC.

Sort of. It's OLED, so it will eventually burn in. It'll be fine for the expected lifespan of a Vita, but if you want to keep it for as long as possible you might start to notice a difference, especially since the sub pixels don't degrade at the same rate so eventually the color balance will look worse. The 1000 has a medium-high quality IPS panel that will still work in 15 years if you pull out your Vita to relive some older games.

It's hard to tell the difference unless you have them side by side. If you have a smartphone with and LCD screen, the LCD screen on the Vita 2000 will look similar to that. Personally, I'd get the 2000 because it has better buttons and battery life and a standard micro usb charging port.
8gb should be fine if you stick to physical copies and just use the 8gb for PSone and PSP games.

IMO it's too late in the console's lifecycle for them to do that. And if they did, it wouldn't apply to games for compatibility reasons.
Anons, should I get a Vita? I'm a live in 24/7 caretaker so I don't go out much. It also seems like tons of Vita games are getting PS4 and PC releases, are there a lot I'm missing out on as I've both those platforms already.
I'm not worried about the cost, just more of if I'll actually get a good amount of use from it.

4GB is basically bare minimum territory if you strictly buy physical and one or two digital games, so 8GB should be fine as long as your collection is almost entirely physical. Keep in mind if you plan on buying Killzone then the patch is like 1GB, LittleBigPlanet data can get out of hand if you plan on saving any stages, and if you don't get Digimon, New Little King's Story, Umihara Kawase, Soul Sacrifice Delta, or Oreshika 2 physically that can also be a bit of a pain if you plan to get those games since they're at least 1-2GB each.
I've got something like 12 or 13 games physically and I have about 2.6GB still free on my 4GB card, so as long as you're careful with digital downloads you'll be just fine.

So many vita games require 3.18+ firmware though, how did you play digimon, steins-gate, superbeat etc?

It can't be too late considering the vast majority of games are single player. It's never a bad idea to wait to get a console for a few years until there's a lot of games for it.

FFVII and re:birth 1. I already played FFVII on PC and I'm actually enjoying it on the Vita more. Something about playing it at a high resolution makes all those absurdly low poly count models look even worse, playing it at 240p stretched to 480p makes it more tolerable. Like the aliasing makes a pentagon look like a really rough circle for example.
