Have you guys gone back to play some of the games on PS3 and 360? They look fucking horrible. After finished Uncharted 4 I had an inch for more mindless cinematic adventuring, but even Uncharted 3 on PS4 looked like complete shit.
I used to kind of agree with everyone about how the new generation of consoles weren't much of a step up, but I don't think I can say that with honesty in my heart any longer. Fine details like faces looked really bad.

They do look horrible graphics wise, but to be fair, Uncharted has always had that Indiana Jones + Dreamworks animation style going on. Drake didn't look super realistic, but that was the point.
Naughty Dog only shifted to realistic anatomy in The Last of Us which then continued with Uncharted 4.

The graphical improvements that made to the Nathan Drake Collection are pretty significant when compared side by side to the original PS3 versions, especially 2 and 3. The first one is almost 10 years old though so there wasn't much they could do there.
At any rate, graphics always. Games that look impressive now like Uncharted 4 and Star Wars Battlefront (and both of these games are the current peak without a doubt) will likely look like shit in 5 years when compared to new stuff.

I don't really care much about visuals, I can play any game no matter how old as long as it controls well and some element of it is compelling.

It looked jaggier but still fine. Far more consistent performance than Uncharted 4. The cutscenes look good but once they throw you into the game the poly count is significantly lowered in certain areas (especially the thicker jungles towards the end of the game)

Maybe trying to update graphics at all is a mugs game. I didn't look at any of those old games and think they looked 'wrong' before, but now I do. When you have good graphics it just looks 'normal', but when you have bad graphics it looks fucked up.

It's the depth of field fucking up when you upscale the game to different resolutions than the default ps4 render resolution.
The only way to fix it is by turning on the alpha hack, but that disables all the special effects on the minimap and some other shit.
There's still no real fix for it to this day. You could probably use the skipdraw hack, but who knows what fucking value the depth of field is.

The animations were actually very impressive for the time and still hold up. ND has always been very good at that. JD's biggest problem was that it was a bland collectathon with fucking awful art design and a shitty setting.
