ITT: Games with fucking god tier visual design

inb4 >waaahhhh it made my head and tum tum hurt

It was fucking supposed to billybum.
>>
love the voice acting in that game

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SSCabd6PeY
>>
I tried to play this on my pc the other day but it just wouldn't stop fucking stuttering.
>>
>>340078461
If you can get it working I'd highly recommend you give it at least one playthrough. It got totally slated by both press and public on release and didn't even garner a cult following but it has one hell of a pureness to it. The sound and visuals really do elevate a rote TPS to something different entirely.
>>
>>340078865
Well I actually really liked the first one, mainly because of the set pieces. So yeah I do want to play this, but the stuttering makes it unplayable, and I found one solution online but it didn't work so I can't do shit homie.
>>
>>340078146

This has been in my Steam games for years but I never touched it.

Convince me to install it.
>>
>>340078146
Probably the best 'cinematic' game ever made.
>>
Love the soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luxV0wBvuIQ
>>
>>340079270
This is the article that convinced me to give it a shot.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/why-i-love-kane-and-lynch-2-dog-days

In my own words though, it's a disturbingly stark assault on the senses.
>>
>>340079401
It's a reminder that cinematic games dont need pre-rendered movie scenes or anything
>>
This game did not deserve the bashing it received despite the shitshow around it.

Kane and Lynch is one of those rare games which you unabashedly play as a piece of shit. You're not a anti - hero, or a outlawish cowboy or a bad guy looking for redemption. From start to finish you're just two people that are killing pretty much anything in their way no reservations. The game play wasn't phenomenal but man I'd like to see more games at least try this aspect of characters.
>>
>>340078146
post processing was afwul, but overall fun game.
People complain about gameplay, but it's still miles better than clusterfuck in 1st game.
>>
>>340080081
You're referring to the Gamespot controversy, right?

K&L was a great game, if you're willing to put up with the bad controls and story completely forgetting what it was doing halfway through.

K&L2 had an amazing style to it and the controls weren't awful anymore but everything else felt like a downgrade.
>>
>>340082160
>bad controls
nicely said
it was outright broken, no doubt the worst cover-based shooting I ever played
>>
>>340083561
did we play the same game? the cover mechanics were smooth as fuck, it avoided the issue of requiring a button press which usually causes movement headaches. All you had to do was move to the place you wanted to to cover at that was it
>>
>>340082160
I loved kane and lynch but when they went to cuba I thought was like a nice homage to freedom fighters, but nope, that was the rest of the game
>>
>>340078146
still haven't played these games, I got them both on PC from a humble bundle
>>
>>340078146
I thought this was better than the first game

>It was meant to look like shit
>It was made to play like shit too
>It's OK that there's barely a story and its only three hours long, its fine because you play as two people who aren't very good people

Fuck off Tim.
>>
>>340078146
I played the shit out of the cops and robbers multiplayer demo but I never played the actual game. I'll have to give it a shot.
>>
>>340078146

The visuals stop being interesting very quickly since the later half of the game (2 hours in) has you shooting chinese in various urban areas that are indistinguishable from every other modern cover shooter

this , plus the music is magical
>>
>>340085097
i can understand why so many people didnt like it, still I think it's an incredible game. The pace is incredible and the aesthetic is absolutely spot-on. Locations where apparently nothing special, but I found myself stopping to admire them at my third playthrough, it break the pace of the experience but i could actually appreciate the art behind the composition. Every piece of environment is placed to make the whole scene always beautifully shoot and interesting (something cinematographers always tries to do).
>>
>>340083925
lemme see
automatic cover kicks in whenever you want it or not
beign forced into cover forcefully shifts your camera
cover's hitbox is complete dogshit: bullets constantly soak through cover, as same time they pass harmlessly though body parts sticking out of it
which would probably be bigger issue if weapons would be able to hit reliably past 40 yards
even reloading is taken out of player's control
bugged AI line-of-sight detection, makes allies more dangerous than enemies, especially in later levels

There's absolutely no way to run this game on modern hardware/OS. I've tried everything, it just won't run properly.

>>
>>340085097
nah, gameplay was OK
not great, but there was not much to complain about, either
>>
>>340078865
It didn't deserve a following after making headshots bleedout hits instead of kills in multiplayer.
>>

what hardware?
I had i5, gtx 770, Win 7 64-bit when playing it last time. Both of them in fact.

Win10, gtx 960, i7-6700k. Won't go more than 5fps at any time.

I fucking love that game. It's a shame the cliffhanger ending...
>tfw no k&l3
>>
>>340089579
It's a bit long and some dungeons are not that good but other than that it's a solid 9.5/10 and one of the best Zeldoids of all time.
>>
I never really thought about it before but Max Payne 3 and Kane and Lynch 2 had some similarities

>aggressive aesthetic design that disorientates the player intentionally
>the outsider atmosphere of being in a bleak, hostile and confusing foreign country
>>
>>
>>340090058

They're also one of the few games that successfuly portray violence in a somewhat disturbing way.
>>
>>340089858
The ending was perfect for me, the whole game's aiming for this starkly brutal realism, why would the ending give any resolution?

>>340090058
I'd like Rockstar to take some notes from Kane and Lynch 2 for Manhunt 3. Perfect aesthetic for it.
>>
>>340090305

>Manhunt sequel

Not gonna happen.
>>
>>340090741
You're probably right but if done properly it could be a tour de force. First step would be to bring it back to the Edinburgh devs, Rockstar Leeds wrecked the second one. Secondly, don't fucking sell it on the controversy. The horrific violence was an integral part of Manhunt, but only because it added to the overall horror aspect. Sell it as a clever panic stealth horror, obviously with majorly violent overtones.
>>
>>340089238
what is this and what can i play it on
>>
>>340091141

Sure, I just think that this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGuhX5AmjuA in next gen would get slapped by AO in seconds.

Okami, Hideki Kamiya's masterpiece. It's the best Zelda game and it's not even a Zelda. You can play it on PS2, PS3 and Wii.
>>
>>340080081
It deserved every bit of it. They somehow turned the first game's clunky tactical shooting into a barely functional cover shooter that was even less fun than the first game. On top of that you've got 4 hours of single player content with the worst plot in a game ever and a fairly measly multiplayer offering that nobody played. It had an interesting visual aesthetic, that's it. It's one of the worst games I've ever played.
>>
>>340091384
I actually forgot just how sadistic and drawn out some of the kills were in the game. I think it's more the realism aspect that'd piss off the censors. It's not blowing someones guts out with a plasma rifle, it's slowly suffocating some poor cunt with a plastic bag over his head while punching him in said head.

Pretty much, that game was always hardcore. They censored manhunt 2 just because.
I've never finished manhunt 2, but I got pretty far.
Manhunt 1 disc was fucked, but it was fun.

No, but Tim Rogers is, and he loves this piece of shit because it was totally meant to be a terrible game.
>>
>>340092095

Exactly, they're disturbingly realistic and specifically made with the intent to make it look sadistic. Imagine it made with modern technology.
>>
>>340092930
They should follow series traditions and go full controversy by having play as an ISIS member stalking areas for televised executions. The twist is it's all being filmed on a cheap digital camera by another terrorist and you have to prevent either of you from getting caught. So you have to hide your cameraman in areas where you can still see your own character.
