I think DoD1 still has the better story though. It feels much more complete than DoD3 which you can tell has a lot cut content and stuff.
Even though the fighting has more depth, I think DoD3 feels even more repetitive than DoD1 in long sessions. I still love it though, but I think DoD1 is probably the best in most aspects except graphics and music.

Only thing I find interesting about NieR is the fact that it's a continuation of the events happened in DoD1. Events actually happened in game was a bore. NieR's combat is only slightly less duller than DoD1's. NieR has "jump, triangle, repeat" against DoD1's "square(times)3+triangle" In addition, aerial combat in DoD1 entertained the shit out of me.

I was at first. I like Platinum games, but I feared the gameplay would get too fast and crazy and it just wouldn't fit the slower pace of a game like Nier.
Fortunately, Platinum themselves said that they had that in mind from the start and for what we've seen from the gameplays, I'm satisfied. It's faster than Nier, but not too crazy, a bit like DoD3 I guess.
