When people claim it has bad combat, it has very unresponsive controls against enemies that hit very hard. It becomes frustrating when an enemy can hit you for fifty percent of your life, but the game won't let you roll away from them.

The only real "problem" is the combat. If this game had a Dragon's Dogma combat, it would be god tier.
The story is just perfect. I played some side quests, which are better than the whole Skyrim quest line and the main quest is perfect.
I never played the Witcher 1 and 2, and also wanted to drop The Witcher 3 after 7 hours, but now that I am much deeper into the story line, I enjoy the game and can't stop playing. So much waifus and so little time...
I don't want to spoil anything, because I had so much fun with the "wtf", "ARE YOU KIDDING ME" and "oh boy, here we go" moments, it is just one perfect moment after another.
I haven't played any expansion as of now, I don't read any Wither thread, to avoid spoilers, but I am really looking forward to them.
How is it possible, that someone like me (who hates any cut scenes and normally always skipped them) can't stop watching cut scenes?
I play the game on the highest settings, on 4k with 30 fps. I normally only play at 60 fps, but 4k 30 fps are better than 1080p 60 fps.

If you did the side quests and stuff you were terribly over leveled for the main quest. On death march a pack of drowners (a pack of enemies in general) especially in the beginning of the game was much more difficult to kill than any boss or "strong" single enemies in the game.
Loot was wonky af, you got better stuff from a random easy to access chest than from some long epic quests, a lot of the time you got gear for level 40s in a cave with level 10 enemies in it. I had most fun when I just got a good, cool looking gear set and didn't bother with weapons and armor anymore.
That said I still had fun with the game and it took over 100 hours for me to complete it

Another thing that is just my opinion is that I preferred the potion drinking system of the earlier games. I thought it was unique and cool that you had to sit down and choose what few potions will fit the upcoming situation the best, I thought it fit the being a Witcher thing very well.
In Witcher 3 the potion system is now almost like in any other RPG and I found myself only really using the healing potions. It's not that useful to have a damage boost that lasts only for about 15 seconds since most of that time might be spent just dodging and looking for an opening.

I was honestly in a bit of a weird state after playing W3. I'm so used to everything being shit or underdelievering it was baffling to me that a game released in 2015 could be one of the best games I've ever played. Combat isn't perfect and there are certain design problems that are more the fault of the genre than the game. At the same time I feel this is the first open world RPG that makes use of its' huge budget. There are so many subtle things that make characters more fleshed out than in any game before it. Like Geralt constantly telling the zeugl story, he behaves like a real person telling same "fun" story to everyone he knows. I think Triss even mocks him about repeating it all the time

Dragon's Dogma, Nioh, Ys series, Diablo 3 just came up to my head. I think even Skyrim has better combat than Witcher, it's more customizable and have less glitches at lesat.
