It took me hours to actually find a decent guide JUST to install steam (Ubuntu). No one would tell me I had to install additional packages and that I had to disable a bug in order for those packages to work.
Apparently that bug was a big nuisance but no one cared enough to explain it except for a blog.

Since upgrading I've actually seen a slight boost in my performance, especially boot times. The only reason I upgrade though was because I was running out of room on my SSD and when I upgraded it freed up about 35 gigs of space doing a clean install.
