amazing game. I would dare say, a masterpiece, it definitely got the ball moving for what future 3d adventure games will look like, nothing looked like SOTC when it came out.

How do i make this work? Tried all the settings
PCSX2 reports 60fps but the game still chugs along as if 20 fps

Update and use the speed hack slider on the left side. Set it to the right.
According to memory that's how I did it. I have the same PC as you so you might not get solid 60fps but it will be much smoother so long as you play at a lower res.

I play at 4X native since that gives best UI without getting too blurry, I think that totals 576p or close

This. everytime we have these threads there's always the anon that has the magic way to get 60fps in SOTC but it never works for me.
it's really good. the first time I played it I was still in a childish "gotta finish the game one two three four gotta finish faster more" mode, the second time I really took my time and that's when the game becomes absolutely amazing. it's strange, but just riding around discovering things was so rewarding respite there not being any enemies or challenges along the way. it was just that beautiful and atmospheric.
anyways it's not my favorite game ever. the Talos Principle is my favorite game.

I did have baseframerate adjust to 129% as recommended here >>340034230 which made the framerate average 63 - 65

I played through SotC while high and can only recommend experiencing this at least once. Preferably with friends. PS2 version.
The game turns into a beautiful disney cartoon.
The HD remake might cause a different effect, though I think it's impossible that anyone will get negative vibes from SotC.

It is a really well done game, it's well executed and it does exactly what it does very well without any additional fat getting in the way. I remember people saying it should have dungeons and smaller enemies to combat between bosses, which would honestly just make the game worse. Exploring and fighting bosses are all this game should have.
Also the animations are excellent. It made me realize my friend was slightly retarded. He saw Wanderer stumbling and falling down a lot and he asked "why is this guy such a noob?".

It looks like a 3rd person action adventure but really it's a 3D platformer with puzzle elements.
Going into it knowing that will probably let you enjoy the game more.
The first 5 colossi suck because your grip strength is terrible in the beginning, but it has a fairly strong ending 3-4 colossi.
I think overall, it's -incredibly- over rated, but it's not terrible. Honest opinion it's a 6/10 because the "artsy" elements like making you hunt down colossi in a fuck huge empty world actually get's really frustrating after awhile, and most colossi have 1 set way to kill them and you can't raelly deviate or try to do your own thing.

Yeah fuck off. Your initial grip strength is garbage and it gets better after like Colossi 7 but that's well after you've done the really annoying ones like the water serpent.

It fucking sucks. I played it on PS2 a few weeks ago and it was the most frustrating gaming experience of my life. The frame rate sucked fucking balls, finding the colossus was fucking boring, the voice giving you the same fucking tip over and over if you're not fast enough made me want to tear my eyes out, falling off a colossus after getting stuck in a perpetual stagger loop made me want to kill myself. I got to the bull colossus (which was disappointing as fuck, why is it so small and annoying?) After getting hit by the bulls charge and then getting hit again because you can't get up fast enough to not get hit again 4 times I gave up. The game graphically looks great for it's time but it's seriously one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. I wouldn't recommend buying it. If you really need to play it, emulate it instead.

Played it years ago and then replayed the HD version last month actually. I really like it but it's kinda way too slow and repetitive. I loved the landscape and the Colossi's designs too
