Plenty of places. Shibuya is one in probably thousands of settings for the Reaper's Game, and it's apparent through logs and collectibles that Joshua isn't even the biggest guy in the universe. Expanding on the lore, the combat system (pin combos, new partners, etc) seems like it'd make for a good sequel.

Think Nomura is in the planning for a sequel after KH3. That is his priority at the moment. He did mentioned he would like to revisit the TWEWY when he's ready. For sure FF7 is on his plate and possibly a TWEWY sequel when hes done with the big games.

Damn, it's been almost 10 years and I still haven't finished it. I spent forever wondering how they were going to transfer the battle system to the Wii, like how I wondered what KH:COM's characters were going to look like in 3D.
Reminder that the sequel needs to pull a FLCL and make the soundtrack consist largely of The Go! Team tracks. And also be set in New York.

a lot of the greatness of it comes from the weirdass gameplay on the DS hardware

It works, but since most of the controls are touch based you may prefer using the real hardware over using a mouse.
