I had an atari 2600 and 1000 is a lot of games. When I was a kid I was lucky to get maybe 5 games a year? With a video game rental once or twice a month or so and you're talking about maybe 20 games a year for the first half of my life, or 300 games (this already seems like a gross overestimate and I didn't complete many of those games)

I used to collect games when I was younger. My brother and I would exchange games with other kids, rent games, buy used games or trade stuff at fleamarkets and rental stores, later we also pitated ablot. He and I still have around 300 original games from back in the day, even though we sold off so much of our stuff throughout the years. Then there is a bunch of newer stuff and digital games on consoles and PC. I've also emulated a lot of stuff and bought games in bulk when I lived in Asia (I once bough 50 Saturn games for around 10 bucks in 2006 or 2007, and left them there when I returned home). I've easily played more than 1000 2D games.
