I was pretty apathetic towards Bloodbourne before today, but I just beat Darkbeast Paarl on a friends pisspoor and I gotta say, I'm hooked. Game feels so much fun to play and I love how the parry mechanic works. As a person who didn't like Dark Souls for its emphasis on defense with melee characters, this game hits it JUST right for me.

BB is my favourite souls game, but the 2nd half of the game has serious problems. it's not DS1 bad, but the first half of BB isn't DS1 good either
i wish the whole game could be more like central yharnam. the level design there was top notch, as were the multiple paths to the boss. compare that to the fucking disaster that is yahar'gul and you'll realize that the team got lazier and lazier as the game went on
the DLC also set a stupid precedent that pops up in DS3 level design - too many checkpoints, too many haphazardly placed enemies, redundant side areas and multiple bosses in a row

I believe him to be beatable, I'm just not getting any enjoyment from fighting him. He's clearly over tuned. He's super aggressive, does tons of damage, has a crazy range of attack, is fast and relatively nimble. I've watched a few youtube videos out of curiosity and most of them seem to make it, barely, through sheer stats alone rather than skill. The fight seems more of a stat check than anything else, really.

As for the bites, my only suggestion is to stay out of his general head range, though they are certainly dodgeable on reaction. His head based attacks seem to be difficult to punish and just are not really worth the time putting yourself in danger for (which is actually one of my many problems with Bloodborne, every boss seems to have a at least a few attacks that come out too quick to hit on reaction but also have too short of a cooldown time to properly/satisfactorily punish (though, that may be because I tended to use the tricked Kirkhammer and Tonitrus))

Nope. My biggest complaint was the Chalice Dungeons. Not really that they exist just that they were used to pump content in quick. The main ends way too fast and destroys the momentum the game held from start to finish.

Bloodborne probably has the best weapons and atmosphere in the entire series but holy fuck its filled with flaws. too limited and I prefer dark souls 1's setting up of a mythology and the hype around the four lord souls etc.
I felt that bloodborne kind of fell flat when it came to the eldritch part because no area really felt that deviant of the setting until the dlc with fishing hamlet, and the attempts to set up a wider history with the pthumerian aspects were clearly not finished
Also, while the great ones were certainly visually appealing, I never felt that they were greatly cohesive with the world, they felt more like statues

That's where we're going to disagree, because I felt that Yahargul (especially the petrified crowds frozen while running away and climbing the walls to try and escape), and the Nightmare of Mensis, were profoundly fitting for the shift into the Eldrich.
