The main story in BaW is such shit. They really dropped the ball making Dettlaff just some dumb angry cuck and Syanna's story is just "They were mean to me ;_;". Really fucking disappointing after how good HoS was.

Even though the Baron is great, it's kind of removed from the main quest since his personal story has no role in it apart from him not telling you where Ciri went until you do it. And the conclusion to his story happens after he does that. I consider it more of a side narrative.
The wild hunt main quest was bad to me because the only good parts were these mostly self-contained narratives only tangentially related to the actual objective. One after another it's:

And then when we finally find her and the Hunt actually start becoming involved, moving it past the absurdly long first act of just "find Ciri" the game rushes to the end, Ciri is a shit character, and her antagonists are a joke accompanied by plot holes and retcons out the ass.
The main quest even managed to ruin the crones, who were built up really well in the Baron's quest by having Ciri fucking cheese them 3v1 no problem.

This makes the ending with the duchesses more sad and not just "good ending" as I have seen popping up. They really should have made it clear that Regis will be put in a horrible position if he kills Dettlaff. And Geralt puts everything behind when there is a friend that is in need of help.
