While this mantra appears to be intended to scare, intimidate, and generally push others away, it's actually an appeal. Deep down, Reaper just wants to be loved and understood, just like everyone else. He would never admit this to himself, let alone everyone else though. Reaper probably feels that putting his faith in others and opening up to them will only result in pain and loss, see the ending of his friendship with 76 for an example of this.
It's the Hedgehog's Dilemma. Reaper is in pain because he is lonely. He is lonely because he doesn't let others get too close to him. He doesn't let others get too close to him because he doesn't want to get hurt again.

I enjoy it for the most part. The game can be fun if you're on a good team and/or the teams are about equal in skill, and thankfully if you're on a bad one games end quick so you can leave and move on. Looking forward to seeing what they do with competitive/ranked mode.

This game is kind of bad as a casual game right now
In TF2, you can jump in or out of a lobby with no penalty, play whatever map/character/do whatever you want and not really feel like any of it matters.
If you want competitive you have to go outside the game(until matchmaking is implemented but even then)
In Overwatch, everyone from the Quake/CS experts to people that have literally never played an FPS are forced into the same quick play queue. You have no choice in maps/gamemode unless you leave on every map you don't like.The time between matches is much longer when compared to TF2's, so there's more pressure to try hard just to avoid getting rolled and having to wait longer than the match time just to play again. Since everyone is in the same queue, the players who really want to win and casuals are at a way greater odds. That guy who insta locks Genji may just really want to play Genji is going to end up getting yelled at for his picks, the team loses making the tryhards mad, and overall nobody has fun unless they're playing with friends.
It's a casual game without a casual setting.
