Fallout 4 brought back the original post-apoc RPG SHOOTER (notice the emphasis) that made the series famous from since Fallout 3, the original. New Vegas had multiple aspects I just felt weren't really "in line" with the fallout lore in general. Alot of what made Fallout 4 such a relief was it's return to what Fallout was meant to be, like the setting (east coast) and the character building and whatnot. New Vegas gave me more of a barren desert vibe, along with its overly complicated skill systems and dialogue, it made me feel it was more intended for adults rather than the game's target audience. Overall, I think we're all grateful that Bethesda stuck with the lore rather than making a game with blatant ignorance of the prior ones (cough, cough, obsidian) and that Fallout 4 will go down as the greatest Fallout game (next to 3, of course

Once you get to New Vegas and get the Platinum Chip back the game just kinda decides that the Courier HAS to choose a side, even though he really doesn't have any stakes in the conflict. It's the same problem Fallout 4 has with the synth shit, except it's masked by an overall better game.
People always act so enamored with the story and factions of NV but I've never really been that interested in it. There's no draw for me. At least in Fallout 3 you have a reason to go against the Enclave, in New Vegas you have a reason to be against Benny since he shot you but once you get the Chip there's no incentive to choose any of the sides, including Independent Vegas.

Is there any way of unfucking the movement when you have an unarmed weapon equipped? Movement in the game has always felt off to me but now on testing I realize that when I equip the Spiked Knuckles you move extremely sluggishly compared to other weapons. Things like taking extra steps or small delays that are just long enough to annoy you. Tried running vanilla to see if a mod was causing it and it's the exact same.
If you dislike new Vegas and prefer 4 you should be systematically arrested and gassed

It's an RPG, the guns aren't supposed to be useful on all levels. In Fallout 3, for example, you start with a 10mm pistol, the next two pistols you'll find (Chinese pistol and .32 revolver) are both massively inferior to it in pretty much every way. Now that is what I'd call "useless weapons".

There aren't too many dedicated Legion quests but to my memory there's occasionally ways of starting quests for the NCR then fucking them over for the Legion within, like in "I Put a Spell on You" you can side with the spy. There's also this to flesh stuff out a little, as well as a Vulpes Inculta follower mod by the same dude.
