I go to community college. My grades aren't so bad, and im in for a Game Programming major. It'll be my second year in September.

Every fellow game designer I know has been making games since they were kids. Starting for fun on shit like Flash or Gamemaker, then taking it seriously and upgrading to shit like unity and unreal. To even going as far as making their own custom engines.
Unless you like this, and have ideas for it that you are passionate about creating, there is no point anon. Liking video games doesn't make you a game designer, the same way liking food wont make you a chef.
I've been animating since I was 11 (21 now), starting with pivot. It's because of that that I am here now, with 0 college degree or anything, and I can use 2D and 3D animation software better than tons of people who've gone to school for it. I have experience in modelling and animation, and it's just a matter of putting work into a portfolio, for me to get my career going. But I can do it, I have the know how and inclination, purely because I did it for fun almost all my life. And yes, all this will go into game designing, as animation and modelling and whatnot are pretty much the second half of a game. Lucky for me, i have tons and tons of ideas.
Only thing holding me back is poverty (still live with mom and dad and I have to grind to be on my own in this fucking city) and depression.
Hopefully getting /fit/ makes me motivated again.
