Half of your complaints are either rectified by playing the game and progressing ("guns suck unless you upgrade") or you can turn it off in the options. I turned off the HUD and aim assist. Turning off the HUD gets rid of health bars and the glowing.
bought it on console so I could play it for free and get the platinum trophy. Still better than falling for the overwatch meme, put 16 hours into doom and about 4 hours into overwatch beta

They take less than a second and fit perfectly into the flow of gameplay. You also don't have to do them, doing it on every enemy is tedious and lame, I agree, but doing glory kills when you need to adds more excitment to the combat. Like using it to avoid an attack or coming back from 1hp

Upgrades don't affect the regular damage or effectiveness of the gun, only alt-fires. Also there's nothing wrong with upgrades.

Nightmare isn't locked and Ultra Nighrmare isn't a a good difficulty, it's for actual machinists and speed runners.

I've spent 3 hours on the first 2 missions. I'm getting real tired of hearing the "it's only five hours" meme. The levels are pretty large and there's a lot to collect. I guess if you're some casual playing below Ultra-Violence, not even bothering with the secrets, 5 hours might be possible.

There's 13 missions, I played on Ultra Violence and went for as many secrets as I could without getting bored or frustrated(I found about 75% of them) and it took me 15-16 hours to beat the game.
For an FPS campaign it's one of the longest (and most optional secrets and stuff) i'Ve played in years.

Funny how Doom gets so much praise for optional routes, same thing in Halo 5. There are multiple paths in the sandbox. Doom has smaller corridors, it wasn't really a big separate path even 100% the game I'd say they are both even.

I think the original 2033 had pretty bad stealth mechanics. If the enemy saw even a glimpse of you, you had to restart. The enemy never gave up searching for you if they had a suspicion of your presence.
Last Light improved the stealth mechanics a ton. They gave an audio cue when someone was about to spot you, which was a good addition. They also made the AI a bit more dynamic. In Last Light the enemy might check an are where they think you were; if they didn't find you they thought nobody is there.

Did they fix the HUD shit in Last Light with the Redux version? Ranger Mode in 2033 was fucking perfect. Only HUD you could see was that clipboard to see your ammo, and other minor shit specifically when you opened menus.
Then for Last Light they went full fucking retard and thought that no UI meant literally no UI anywhere.
