That reminds me, I didn't expect this game to have a lot of continuity regarding past decisions, but it's definitely in there. I recently did a re-play to get the "Only remembered Amira" achievement, which involves you skipping most side areas. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was surprised at how well the story held together even without Luka going and doing all the side-zones.
The orbs that you need in part 2, for example - four of them are gathered in side areas, but if you skip any of those Amira literally just hands them to you.
The worst part, though, comes in Part 3. Basically you can skip most of the events at San Ilias and all of Sabasa, Grangold, and Grand Noah.Since Luka didn't help these areas they are destroyed by Ilias' forces in Part 3 and their leaders don't appear at the Monster Lord Castle to plan the invasion of Heaven

I don't know if you've tried it on Hard but it exemplifies the problem of RNG reliance. You just can't outpace the damage, especially if she uses nine moons more than a few times. You NEED lucky Undine and Sylph dodges, and if you aren't careful you can lose multiple spirits in a row with low SP, and at that point you are ultra-fucked.
On the first try I got her to the lunar cannon but was bound so I couldn't guard. That made me pretty mad.Also, out of those 12 losses, probably 5 of them were before she even took her clothes off, since I was guessing my way through puzzle at the start
